Yuhua tea is a specialty of Nanjing, named after the Yuhuatai produced outside the Zhonghua Gate in Nanjing. The shape of the tea leaves is round green, like pine needles, with white hair, tight and straight. After brewing, the tea color is green, clear, the aroma is quiet, drink a cup, refresh people's hearts, leave fragrant teeth and cheeks, mellow taste, sweet aftertaste.

In 1959, Yuhua tea was selected as one of the top ten famous teas in China, and it is a famous tea type developed by Jiangsu Province after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Place of origin: Zhongshan Mausoleum in Nanjing City, that is, Purple Mountain. In 1958, Jiangsu Province set up a special committee to present the 10th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and began to develop new varieties of green tea.

The shape of Yuhua tea dry tea is like pine needles, which means that the heavy snow presses the green pine, and the revolutionary spirit of the green pine is indelible. And Peng Chong, who was the mayor of Nanjing at the time, named Yuhua Tea to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who died in Yuhuatai. It was successfully developed in 59 years, and Yuhua tea won the title of top ten famous teas in the country that year. It has a history of 50 years since its development, and has spread its branches in Yuhuatai and other places to form the Yuhua tea industry. At present, there are more than 30 enterprises with the production permit of Yuhua tea, with an annual output of about 500 tons.

Pick one bud and one leaf or one bud and two leaves before and after Qingming, and do not pick insect wound buds and leaves, purple bud leaves, red bud leaves, and hollow bud leaves. After harvesting, the fresh leaves should be avoided from the sun, processed in time, and processed according to the method of roasting green and green tea, after mild withering, high temperature killing, moderate rolling, shaping and drying, and then through round sieve, shaking sieve, floating sieve, divided into four grades: special grade and 1~4 grade. The finished tea of Yuhua resembles pine needles, tight straight round green, the front seedlings are very beautiful, the color is emerald green, the white hao is revealed, brewed with hot water, the bottom of the leaves is tender, the taste is fresh and cool, the gas fragrance is clear, and it has the effect of removing annoyance and getting tired, clearing the mind and benefiting qi. In 1982, it was rated as one of the 30 kinds of famous teas in the country at the National Famous Tea Selection Conference held by the Ministry of Commerce. In 1983, it won the Jiangsu Province Quality Product Award. In 1985, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fishery held a national high-quality tea selection meeting in Nanjing, and was once again rated as one of the 11 kinds of high-quality famous tea. In 1986 and 1990, it was rated as a national famous tea for two consecutive years at the National Famous Tea Selection Conference.

Yuhua tea is divided into four grades: special first-class Yuhua tea, special second-class Yuhua tea, first-class Yuhua tea, and second-class Yuhua tea.

The fresh leaves picked by Yuhua tea should be evenly sized and neat. It does not have single leaves, sandwich leaves, fish leaves, insect wound leaves, purple leaves, red buds, hollow buds, etc.

Yuhua tea should have the appearance of normal commodities and inherent color, fragrance and taste, without peculiar smell and deterioration. The product should be clean and should not be mixed with non-tea inclusions. No coloring, no artificial chemicals added.

Since the birth of the first pot of Yuhua tea in Zhongshan Ling Tea Factory, Yuhua tea has gone through 44 years, and the production of Yuhua tea has also undergone great changes with the development of the times. In the 60s, it was completely handmade, and the output has been hovering around 600 kilograms, and the manufacturers only have a few tea farms such as Zhongshan Ling Tea Factory, Yuhuatai Tea Field, Jiangning Tea Experimental Field and Qinglongshan Tea Field, which are far from meeting the needs of consumers. In order to expand the output of famous products, improve economies of scale, and reduce labor intensity, since the early 80s, we began to try to use machinery to produce Yuhua tea, and in 1986, the development of the whole process mechanism technology of Yuhua tea was successful, which made the production of Yuhua tea unprecedentedly developed. The area of tea gardens has increased from thousands of acres in the 60s to 100,000 mu (actual mining area of 75,000 mu) at present (statistics at the beginning of 2008), the annual output of Yuhua tea is 1,430 tons, the output value of Yuhua tea is 280 million yuan, nearly 300 Yuhua tea production enterprises, more than 230 sets (sets) of Yuhua tea machinery production lines, and the mechanism of Yuhua tea accounts for more than 95% of the total output of Yuhua tea.
