Enshi Yulu is produced in Bajiao Township in the south of Enshi City, Hubei Province and Wufeng Mountain in the eastern suburbs. Hubei has a long history of tea production, as early as the Tang Dynasty has been very famous, is still an important tea-producing province in China. Enshi Yulu is one of the few steamed green tea preserved in China, and its production process and tools used are quite ancient, which is very similar to that contained in Lu Yu's "Book of Tea".
According to legend, during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, there was a tea merchant surnamed blue in Enshi Basho Huanglianxi, which was developed by the base stove, and the shape of the tea made was tight and round, firm, and the color was green, and it was as white as jade, so it was called Enshi jade green. From the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China, it was a prosperous period for the development of tea. In 1936, Yang Runzhi, the tea officer of Hubei Minsheng Company, changed the pot and fried the tea, and its tea not only had the soup color of the tea, the bottom of the leaves was green and bright, and the fresh fragrance was refreshing, but also made the appearance of the color oily and emerald green, white as jade, so it was renamed Enshi Yulu.

Enshi Yulu has very strict requirements for harvesting, the buds and leaves must be delicate and even, the tea strips are tight and thin, the color is bright green, even and straight, like pine needles; The tea soup is clear and bright, the aroma is fresh, the taste is sweet and mellow, and the background color of the leaves is as green as jade. "Three greens" (tea green, soup green, leaf bottom green) is its distinctive characteristics.
In order to protect this local characteristic product, Enshi City applied for the protection of geographical indication products for Enshi Yulu in 2006. At the end of 2007, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China approved the implementation of geographical indication product protection for Enshi Yulu in Announcement No. 48. Taking advantage of this, some local enterprises are actively building tea brands, and a group of modern tea farmers have come to the fore. Now, more than 4,000 hectares of tea plantations have been developed here, and more than 100 "tea bosses" have set up modern tea processing enterprises, and the developed series of products sell well in Europe, America and Southeast Asian markets.
