Founded in 1958, the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University is a national Grade A architectural design institute. Relying on the profound and extensive academic, scientific research and teaching resources of Tsinghua University, and serving as a base for the combination of teaching, scientific research and practice of the School of Architecture, the School of Earth and Water and other departments. Our institute attaches great importance to academic research and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and the level of planning and design is among the best in China. Tsinghua University Architectural Design and Research Institute has more than 300 engineering designers, including 73 national first-class registered architects, 58 first-class registered structural engineers, and more than 60% of senior professional and technical personnel.
Department configuration
The institute has six architectural engineering design institutes, four studios led by academicians of the National Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering and national design masters, two architectural professional institutes, BIM technology center, cultural relics and historical building protection design institute, green building engineering design institute, engineering consulting and architectural planning institute, water conservancy and hydropower engineering design institute, ecological planning and green building design institute, engineering design document review institute and three joint research centers. They are the United Environmental Art Design Research Center established with Beijing Dianshi 98 Decoration Design Co., Ltd., the United Urban and Construction Research Center established with Weibang Global Architectural Design (Beijing) Office, and the United Urban Cultural Architecture Research Center established with Fandao United International Design Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd. As one of the most prestigious comprehensive design and research institutes in China, our business areas cover all kinds of public and civil building engineering design, urban design, residential planning and residential design, ancient building protection and restoration, landscape architecture, interior design, testing and reinforcement, preliminary feasibility study and architectural planning research, and engineering consulting.
Enterprise strength
In recent years, the projects designed and completed by our institute have won more than 60 national, provincial and ministerial excellent design awards, ranking in the forefront of the national first-class institutes. His representative works include Beijing Juer Hutong Residential Area, Peking University Library, Tsinghua University Library, Beijing Tianqiao Theater, Tsinghua University Design Center Building, National Art Museum of China Renovation and Decoration Project, Leifeng Pagoda Restoration Project, Central Academy of Fine Arts Relocation Project, World University Games Swimming and Diving Hall, Haidian Community Service Center and a number of popular masterpieces have won high social evaluation. Our institute has also done a lot of research work in ecological building design, and the design center building and ultra-low energy consumption office building of Tsinghua University are both beneficial practices of green office buildings; In addition, in a series of domestic and foreign competitions and bidding, the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing International Convention and Exhibition Sports Center and other projects designed by our institute have achieved good results. Especially in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games venues engineering design bidding, our institute won the bid for three projects in one fell swoop, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games shooting hall, skeet shooting range and judo taekwondo hall, has completed the design task and put into use.
Software development
In terms of scientific research, our institute has independently developed TUS engineering design software, which has passed the national appraisal. In 2001, he was commissioned by the National Administration Committee of Registered Architects to compile and complete the third of the continuing education textbooks for registered architects, "Ecological Strategy of Architectural Design" and "Architectural Design and Economy", in cooperation with the School of Architecture.
International exchange
Tsinghua University Architectural Design and Research Institute actively develops international exchanges and cooperation, and has established good cooperative relations with universities, scientific research institutions, design units and owners in more than a dozen countries and regions such as France, the United States, Japan, Germany, Australia, South Korea and Hong Kong, China. Now it has obtained China (CNAB) and United Kingdom (UKAS) quality system certification.
