The predecessor of the group was the East China Ministry of Industry Architectural Design Company established in 1952 and the Design Department of the Production Technology Department of Shanghai Construction Engineering Bureau established in 1953, which has a history of more than 60 years. It has more than 10 subsidiaries and professional institutions, such as East China Architectural Design and Research Institute, Shanghai Architectural Design and Research Institute, East China Urban Architectural Design and Research Institute, Engineering Construction Consulting Company, Shanghai Water Conservancy Engineering Design and Research Institute, Architectural Decoration Environment Design and Research Institute, and Wilson Interior Design Company of the United States. For more than ten consecutive years, it has been listed in the "Top 150 Global Engineering Design Companies" by Engineering News-Record (ENR) in the United States. On October 30, 2015, the group was successfully listed. On November 30, East China Construction Group Co., Ltd. was officially established.
