Home Depot is the American Home Depot Company. Home Depot is a global retailer of home building materials products in the United States, Canada, Mexico and China. From its first store in Atlanta in 1978 to today, it has traveled all over the world. It has more than 1,200 stores in 49 states in the U.S. and 133 overseas. Founded in 1978, HomeDepot is the world's largest building materials and home furnishing retail enterprise in the United States, and a retail group with the same reputation as Wal-Mart and Carrefour. It has spread to more than 1,800p chain stores in the United States, with sales of more than $75 billion in 2004. Home Depot has more than 355,000 employees in China, and its main mission is to source home building materials in China and engage in market research in the industry. At the end of 2006, the company has acquired Tianjin Home World Home Furnishing and successfully landed in the Chinese market. Home Depot now has two stores in Beijing, located in the West Fourth Ring Temple and Jiuxianqiao. It has three stores in Tianjin, located in Hedong, Hongqiao and Bohai Rim.

Home Depot's entry into China is very similar to its entry into Canada and Mexico, starting with mergers and acquisitions. It is understood that on December 13, 2006, the integration of 12 branches acquired from Home World Home Building Materials Supermarket Co., Ltd. has been completed, which indicates that Home Depot has officially entered the Chinese market. On August 26, 2007, after a series of internal store reorganization, Home Depot held simultaneous opening celebrations in all branches of the six major cities, mainly the Beijing Minmin Temple store.

At the opening ceremony, Ms. Shirui Wen, President of Home Depot Canada and Asia, and Chen Yaodong, President of Home Depot China, expressed great confidence. Like foreign supermarkets and local supermarkets in the Chinese market, Home Depot promises to open up the Chinese market with favorable prices and good service. On the opening day, a striking slogan was posted in the store: If the price of similar products from similar merchants in the same area is lower than that of Home Depot, it will repay double the difference. Chen Yaodong said that in order to ensure the price advantage, Home Depot will directly purchase goods from suppliers and introduce its own brands and exclusive brands.

In September 2012, The Home Depot closed all of its stores in China, and the transformation began. Subsequently, Home Depot opened five stores in Tianjin and Beijing, abandoning the previous model of operating a comprehensive building materials supermarket, and instead started small, focusing on the sale of an American high-end paint brand as its exclusive agent, and re-opened the Chinese market. It broke the earlier rumor of "withdrawing from the Chinese market across the board". On May 12, the Home Depot Tmall flagship store was officially launched. This started the online and offline (O2O) dual-platform operation model.
