Wuchang Shouyi College was established in August 2000 with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and was jointly established by Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan Junwei Culture Communication Group. The school was originally named Junwei College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, changed its name to Huazhong University of Science and Technology Wuchang Branch in March of the following year, and changed its current name in May 2015.

The school is located in Wuchang South Lake. Now it covers an area of more than 1,000 acres, with a total building area of 590,000 square meters. The system of modern teaching and living facilities is perfect. The campus is beautiful and fragrant, and the environment is elegant. There are more than 13,000 students enrolled in the school. There are nearly 1,000 teaching staff, including 709 full-time teachers. There are 298 teachers with senior professional titles or above, and 570 teachers with master's degrees or above.

It has seven colleges, including Information Science and Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Urban Construction, Foreign Chinese, Economic Management, Journalism and Law, and Art and Design, as well as the Department of Basic Science and the Department of Ideological and Political Theory. The 41 undergraduate majors are distributed in six disciplines, including information, mechanical and electrical, civil engineering, economics and management, grammar and art. It has 68 basic and professional laboratories such as numerical control, optical information, communication, network, news communication and moot court. In September 2008, a talent training base for Taiwan-funded enterprises in Chinese mainland was established. The library has 1.33 million Chinese paper books and 4.75 million electronic books.

Through the education path of international cooperation in running schools, efficient linkage between schools and enterprises, and deep integration of industry and education, we strive to cultivate applicable talents with perfect personality and sound mind, excellent professional core competence, adapting to the needs of national industrial development, and daring to be good at practice and innovation. In 2012, it passed the evaluation of the right to confer bachelor's degrees and obtained the right to confer bachelor's degrees. In March 2015, it was approved as a pilot university for the "transformation of applied technology-based ordinary universities". In December 2016, it was promoted to the pilot university of the Ministry of Education's "Internet Made in China 2025" industry-education integration promotion plan.

The school adheres to the principle of openness and internationalization, introduces advanced educational concepts and educational management models from international excellent universities, and carries out extensive educational exchanges and cooperation with the United States and Taiwan through various forms such as joint education, joint courses, and cultural exchanges.

Wuchang Shouyi College implements the principal responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors, the school-college two-level management system, the full appointment system of faculty and staff, the financial budget and final account system, the academic year work target assessment system, and the teaching and student management system suitable for its own characteristics. At the same time, a complete set of school-running funding investment mechanism has been built, which provides an institutional guarantee for promoting the construction and development of the school and continuously improving the quality of talent training.

History goes through here. The campus was originally the third middle school of the army in the late Qing Dynasty, and at the same time, it was also the garrison of the horse team and artillery team of the new army of Wuchang. At that time, 700 enthusiastic people joined the main force of Wuchang's first uprising, so it became one of the birthplaces of the Xinhai Revolution. In 1913, that is, in the second year of the Republic of China, Mr. Zhang Taiyan wrote the "Wuchang Shouyi Declaration" to advocate the establishment of a university to commemorate the merits of Wuchang Shouyi and inherit the spirit of the Xinhai Revolution. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, in order to cultivate and boost the spirit of national heroism, Mr. Song Qingling worked tirelessly to raise funds, and invited Mr. Yu Yuzhi, a revolutionary and calligrapher from Xinhai, to inscribe the name of "Wuchang Shouyi University". In 1946, Li Yidong, a scholar with lofty ideals in Xinhai, wrote a long article calling for the establishment of a commemorative and research-oriented Wuchang Shouyi University.

The Wuchang Shouyi of the Xinhai Revolution is a spiritual monument admired by the descendants of Yan and Huang all over the world, and has a lofty and sacred and irreplaceable historical status in the eyes of overseas Chinese around the world. In November 2010, at the Centennial Forum of the Xinhai Revolution, Mr. Huang Weimin, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the grandson of Huang Xing, a pioneer of the Xinhai Revolution, invited the descendants of the Xinhai Revolution in the United States, Beijing, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and other places to gather in Nanhu to call for and sign the establishment of Wuchang Shouyi University.

Standing at a new historical starting point, Wuchang Shouyi College will continue to assume the responsibility and morality of education, and will be awe-inspiring with the spirit of "daring to be the first in the world" and the innovative spirit of the new century, and will knock the strongest voice of the times with endless leaps and bounds.
