Founded in 1992, Xi'an University of Foreign Affairs is a non-profit international, application-oriented and comprehensive undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.   

The school is located in the high-tech development zone, covering an area of 1.264 million square meters, with a construction area of more than 660,000 square meters. The school offers 37 undergraduate majors and 29 higher vocational majors, covering 8 disciplines of economics, management, literature, medicine, engineering, art, agriculture and education, and has 10 secondary colleges including business school, school of arts, medical school, school of engineering, school of film and television arts, college of applied technology, college of international cooperation, school of entrepreneurship, Qifang College and school of continuing education. Moral education and liberal arts education are the three major characteristics of running a school. The school has more than 22,000 students and nearly 2,000 faculty members.   

Management    

The university has continuously reformed and innovated the governance system, and established and improved a modern private university system with Chinese characteristics, which is "decision-making by the board of directors, supervision by the party committee, responsibility of the president, governance by professors, democratic management, and governance according to law". Student development     

The school is based on cultivating people with virtue, constantly innovating the talent training model, advocating successful experience, emphasizing personality development, paying attention to characteristic education, and releasing students' potential. In professional teaching, the school takes the lead in implementing the credit system among similar institutions, which not only gives students the opportunity to choose their own academic planning and be recognized, but also promotes the continuous optimization of the curriculum system and the continuous improvement of teachers' skills. In terms of students' academic planning, the school implements a small-semester system, and provides professional educational guidance and services for students' different wishes such as employment, postgraduate entrance examinations, entrepreneurship, and going abroad, so as to provide support for students' independent choices. In terms of practical teaching, the school implements the connection between majors and industries, so that students can have professional practical ability and more experience during their school years. In terms of education and teaching methods, the school attaches great importance to innovation, actively promotes online courses, flipped classrooms and seminar-based and interactive teaching, pays attention to cultivating students' critical and creative thinking, and closely combines teaching and education, requiring teachers to integrate moral education into classroom education, and guide students to shape noble character through words and deeds.   

The school pioneered the student management education model of "College College", extended the education and teaching activities to the student apartment, and built a "full-staff, whole-process, all-round" education model integrating teaching and education. Each college has established seven colleges with their own characteristics, and implemented various types of tutors to be stationed in the colleges to play their respective roles in student education and form a joint force: academic tutors enter the college to help students plan their academic and career development; Moral education tutors enter the college to guide students to establish a correct world view, outlook on life and values; Life coaches come to the college to help students solve practical problems and guide students to develop good behavior habits. The college also pays attention to cultivating students' self-management, self-education and self-service capabilities, and carries out a wide range of discipline competitions to enhance students' professional ability and innovation ability.   

The school pays attention to the "second classroom" education led by the party organization and the student union, and guides students to actively carry out scientific and technological innovation, social practice, volunteer service, party building and campus cultural activities. The school has set up 72 student clubs to provide a platform for students to "give full play to their talents and show themselves", so as to cultivate and improve students' organization, coordination, communication and cooperation skills, social participation and communication skills, as well as social adaptability and growth skills.   

Academic research     

With "teaching as the center and scientific research as the guide", the university conducts applied research on the development of China's private education, teaching reform, discipline construction, and local economic development. In the past three years, our teachers have published a total of 2,987 academic papers, including 707 in various core journals, and more than 20 academic works and textbooks. It has won 321 longitudinal projects of various kinds, and its scientific research competitiveness ranks among the top private universities in the country. In particular, in the first half of 2016, 83 longitudinal projects at the provincial and ministerial levels of the National Social Science Fund have been approved, ranking first among similar universities. The school founded the earliest private education research institute in China, the Institute of Private Education (Qifang Education Research Institute), which was commended by the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Education as an "Advanced Collective of the National Education System", and was established by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education as the third batch of key research bases for philosophy and social sciences in Shaanxi Province.   

International education     

The school has always adhered to the international school. Chairman Huang Teng put forward the educational concept of "education without borders" as early as the beginning of the school, and the current president, Professor Chen Aimin, is the first president of a global public university in China, and a tenured and distinguished professor of an American university. As the initiator of the "Alliance for the Internationalization of Higher Education", the university has participated in international academic exchanges extensively, attracting many international political and business elites and well-known scholars to visit the university. As the first private university in Shaanxi Province to be allowed to carry out international cooperation education and international student education, the university has established various forms of cooperation and exchanges with more than 100 well-known universities in the United States, Canada, France, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries, and has set up international cooperation programs such as Sino-US preparatory courses, Sino-French, Sino-Canada, Sino-Thai, Sino-Korean, and Sino-Malaysian international classes. Hundreds of international students from all over the world have come to study at the school, and students from all over the world have worked hard in the same class, forming a distinctive international school characteristics.   

Innovation and entrepreneurship education     

Innovation and entrepreneurship education is the characteristic brand of the school. As early as 2006, the school took the lead in setting up entrepreneurship education courses in the country, and in 2009, it established the country's first entity-based entrepreneurship college to comprehensively carry out entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship research. Entrepreneurship education is served by a "dual-teacher" entrepreneurship mentor team composed of theoretical course tutors and well-known entrepreneurs in the school, including "three modules" of theoretical teaching, practical training, and skill training, and "inclusive education, igniting passion; focus on training, incubation and assistance; The road to success, lifelong attention" and "three levels". The school also has an entrepreneurship building, an entrepreneurship practice square, an entrepreneurship block, an entrepreneurship training park and a college student entrepreneurship incubation park, and has set up an entrepreneurship fund. These measures have enabled the school to form a "three-level + complete incubation chain" entrepreneurship education model that leads the national universities, and has cultivated a group of successful entrepreneurs, and the entrepreneurship rate of previous graduates has doubled beyond the national average.
