Wenhua College, the predecessor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, is an ordinary full-time university approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2003, jointly organized by Wuhan Midland Real Estate Co., Ltd. and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In May 2014, the Ministry of Education approved the school to be transformed into an independent private ordinary undergraduate school and renamed "Wenhua College".
