Guangming Daily Newspaper Group, founded in 1949, is a large-scale official news media directly led by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, based on the intellectual circles/a national comprehensive party newspaper facing the society, with a certain degree of authority and extensiveness, and an effective display platform for enterprises, institutions and universities

Guangming Daily is a central party newspaper sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and managed by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee, which was founded in Beiping on June 16, 1949.

Since its inception, Guangming Ribao has always received the deep concern of the party's three generations of central leadership collectives with Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, and Jiang Zemin as the core, and the party Central Committee with Comrade Hu Jintao as general secretary. When Guangming Daily was founded, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation wrote inscriptions. Mao Zedong's inscription reads: "Unite and Celebrate the Publication of Guangming Daily". Comrade Deng Xiaoping wrote inscriptions for the 40 th anniversary of the founding of Guangming Ribao and the publication of the "Collection of Discussion Essays on the Criterion of Truth": "Forty years of Guangming Ribao" and "Practice is the only criterion for testing truth." Comrade Jiang Zemin talked with the responsible persons of Guangming Ribao twice, gave important instructions, and wrote inscriptions for the 45th and 50th anniversaries of the founding of Guangming Ribao: "Unite the broad masses of intellectuals to make greater contributions to China's reform, opening up, and modernization" and "unite and encourage intellectuals to make meritorious contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation." After Guangming Ribao reporters Xu Xinghu and Zhu Ying died heroically in the former Yugoslavia on 8 May 1999, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, and other central leading comrades went to the Guangming Ribao office to offer their condolences. Since the 16 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Hu Jintao as its general secretary has given clear instructions that it is necessary to "make Guangming Ribao a bridge and link between the party and the broad masses of intellectuals, and a newspaper that the broad masses of intellectuals like to see."

Guangming Daily, "based on intellectual circles and oriented to domestic and foreign countries," focuses on reporting new trends, new breakthroughs, new theories, new achievements in the fields of education, science and technology, culture, and theory, as well as typical figures of intellectuals, and reports and publishes news, remarks, and works of concern to intellectuals. In the 50s of the last century, special journals such as "Historiography", "Literary Heritage", "Character Reform" and "Philosophy" were founded one after another. On May 11, 1978, the organization published an article by a special commentator entitled "Practice is the Only Criterion for Testing Truth", which made an important contribution to the national discussion on the question of the criterion of truth.
