Founded in 1958, the Third Hospital of Peking University (hereinafter referred to as the Third Hospital of Peking University) is a modern comprehensive tertiary first-class hospital under the management of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and preventive health care. At present, there are 4,767 employees on the job and 1,752 open beds. The hospital has 36 clinical departments and 10 medical technology departments. It has 28 doctoral programs and 1 clinical postdoctoral mobile station. The Third Hospital of Beijing Medical University has the strongest spine surgery department in China and one of the largest and most comprehensive reproductive medicine centers in the world. The first IVF in Chinese mainland was born here. The Institute of Sports Medicine is the first and only athlete injury prevention and treatment center designated by the Chinese Olympic Committee in China. The Department of Ophthalmology is at the leading level in China in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular trauma and difficult and serious ophthalmic diseases. The Department of Gastroenterology is at the forefront of China in the fields of research and treatment of the pathogenesis of ulcer disease, diagnosis and treatment of early gastric cancer, etc.; The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine is at the first-class level in China in terms of interventional treatment of coronary heart disease, "green channel" for acute myocardial infarction, and coordinated development of clinical and basic care. By the end of 2015, there were 118 part-time people above the vice chairman of the main series of the Chinese Medical Association of our hospital; 43 people have served as editors-in-chief or associate editors-in-chief of journals included in the statistical source journals of Chinese scientific and technological papers, involving 16 departments (since 2008).

With a strong sense of social responsibility, the Third Hospital of Beijing Medical University actively participates in the reform of public hospitals. In 2015, the research team of Professor Qiao Jie, the research team of Professor Xie Xiaoliang of Peking University, and the research team of Professor Tang Fufei jointly completed the research result of "Accurate Derivation of Maternal Genome Information Using Polar Body High-throughput Sequencing Results" was selected as one of the "Top Ten Advances in Chinese Science" in 2014 announced by the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2016, the research results of "Revealing the Gene Expression and Epigenetic Regulation Characteristics of Human Primitive Germ Cells" jointly completed by the research team of Professor Qiao Jie and Professor Tang Fufei were selected as the "Top Ten Advances in Chinese Science" in 2015 announced by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
