Beijing Gas Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Gas Group") is a wholly state-owned company established in September 1999. In order to promote the marketization process of the gas group and build an investment and financing platform for infrastructure construction in the capital city, in 2005, the Beijing Municipal People's Government jointly reorganized Jingtai Group and Gas Group to establish Beijing Enterprises Group, and the Gas Group became a direct subsidiary of Beijing Enterprises Group. On December 31, 2006, the piped natural gas business and non-piped natural gas business of the former Gas Group were separated, and the separated Gas Group became a company mainly engaged in urban pipeline natural gas business. In May 2007, Beijing Gas Group successfully achieved the listing of its assets in Hong Kong.
At present, the headquarters of the gas group has 21 functional departments, 7 branches, 8 professional institutions, 8 wholly-owned subsidiaries and 19 holding and shareholding companies.
Beijing Gas Group is currently the largest single city gas supplier in China, ranking among the best in the country in terms of pipeline network size, number of gas users, annual gas consumption and annual sales revenue. In 2015, the supply of natural gas was 13.854 billion cubic meters, with about 6.6 million piped gas users inside and outside Beijing, and 22,800 kilometers of natural gas pipelines in operation.
