Jiefangbei business district

The Yuzhong Peninsula was Chongqing's commercial and financial center decades ago, and by the time of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, there were already 250 banks, insurance companies, and financial institutions located along Datong Street. After the liberation, with the development of Chongqing's industry, small wholesalers of emerging industrial products such as hardware, cotton yarn, and weaving gradually gathered in the area of Xinhua Road. In 1997, Chongqing became the fourth municipality directly under the central government after Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai, and in the same year, the Jiefangbei business district started construction as scheduled, and Metropolis Plaza, Chongbai Building, Bayi Square and Times Square were opened one after another. After more than 20 years of accumulation, the Jiefangbei business district has become the most prosperous business center in Chongqing and has become the most important commercial and financial core center in Chongqing.

Jiefangbei business district is centered on Jiefangbei, starting from Xiaoshizi in the east, bordering Jialingjiang Binjiang Road in the north, Jintang Street in the west, Heping Road and Xinhua Road in the south, and is known as "Cross Gold Street". Chongbai Building is affiliated to Chongqing Department Store Co., Ltd., which was established in 1950 and formerly known as Chongqing 38 Department Store, which is the earliest state-owned commercial enterprise in Chongqing. In 1992, Chongqing Department Store was officially restructured into a joint-stock system, and in 1996, it was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, becoming the only listed retail company in Chongqing. Chongbailou Group has a wide range of business forms, including Chongqing Department Store, New Century Department Store, Commercial Electrical Appliances and Commercial Automobile Trade, with a business scope covering Chongqing, Sichuan and Guizhou.

Jiefangbei Chongbai Building is the largest shopping mall in Chongqing area. Thanks to the business model of the department store, the heavy circulation line is clear and the aisle is open. The mall has been in business for many years, and the interior is a little old, but it is very popular with local customers, and it is bustling with people on weekends and holidays. Like other department stores, Chongbai is also under unified management, so the design, decoration and service of merchants may not be as good as that of shopping malls.
