Hangzhou has a strong tea culture, and Longjing tea, one of China's four famous teas, is a specialty of Hangzhou. Longjing tea is rated as "lion, dragon, cloud, tiger, and plum", and the "plum" refers to Meijiawu. Meijiawu is located in the western hinterland of the West Lake Scenic Area, and is an ancient tea culture village with a history of more than 600 years.
Meijiawu Tea Culture Village is surrounded by mountains, the mountain road is slightly rugged, there are many mosquitoes in the tea mountain, and tourists can carry mosquito repellent water with them. Standing on the top of the hill, you can see that the ridges and cols are full of lush tea trees, and the white-walled and ink-tiled houses are dotted with large areas of greenery, which is pleasing to the eye.
If you go to Meijiawu in spring, tourists can also experience the fun of picking spring tea and making tea. There are hundreds of tea workshops in Meijiawu, every household grows tea and sells tea for a living, in order to let the tourists come to fully experience the tea culture, Meijiawu has set up a multilingual reception room to provide explanation function for tourists, in addition to tea art performances.
In addition to the tea garden, Meijiawu also has many other attractions, such as Zhou Enlai Memorial Room, Qidang Ridge, Ligeng Hall, etc. The Zhou Enlai Memorial Room was donated by local villagers to rebuild the old building that received the prime minister. The first floor of the memorial room is an exhibition hall, which displays some photos, inscriptions, calligraphy and paintings related to tea culture, so that visitors can learn about the local culture and history. Lang Jue Ridge is to widen the original ten miles of Lang Jue entrance road at the same time, also built a stone tablet workshop, the ancient road winds on the hill, the surrounding limestone landform is dominant, the peaks and peaks are beautiful, the field of vision is broad. The ancient house of Ligengtang has a history of 100 years, and is a traditional Jiangnan residential building: the middle hall, the wings on both sides, the appearance is antique, and at the same time, the Riteng Hall is also one of the popular tea houses in Meijiawu.
In addition to picking tea and watching the scenery, Meijiawu is also a suitable place for farmhouse. There are many restaurants in the scenic area, and the menu set up by the restaurant is mostly authentic local dishes, among which the tea fragrant chicken of the Li Gengtang and the local chicken pot of the Xiangfu Tea House are the local delicacies that must be eaten. There is not much difference in prices between the farmhouse restaurants and the prices are moderate.
Meijiawu is not big, just wandering around the tea plantation, one or two hours. If you have enough time, order a cup of local dragon well at the roadside tea house and sit for an afternoon, which will be more comfortable to "steal half a day of leisure".
