The marzipan was founded in Zhongshan in 1918, and the original finished product resembled almonds, hence the name. The mung beans are ground into flour and marinated pork are added to them, and after baking, they become macaroons. Today's macaroons come in a variety of flavors, such as crab roe macaroons, egg yolk macaroons, and whole macaroons, and the shape has been modified into a round cake shape. The most famous almond cakes in the Lingnan area are Zhongshan Tsui Heung Yuen and Macau Ju Kee, but unfortunately the latter can only be bought in Macau. Foshan blind cakes are also similar in shape to them.
