Guangzhou chicken cake is one of the four famous cakes in Guangdong. Formerly known as Xiaofeng cake, it was created by a maidservant named Xiaofeng of a wealthy family surnamed Xiguan Wu in Guangzhou during the Qing Xianfeng period, which was shaped like a chick, also called chicken cake. Nowadays, the most authentic small phoenix cakes can only be bought in Chengzhu Building, and the production process of Chengzhu small phoenix cakes has been selected into the first batch of district-level intangible cultural heritage list in Haizhu District, Guangzhou. Xiaofeng cake is refined with ten kinds of raw materials such as olive kernels, melon seed kernels, sesame seeds, glutinous rice, etc., and the cake body is very crisp, sweet and delicious. But what is more well-known is the chicken cake of Lianxianglou, the body of the cake is soft, the taste is more oily, and the aroma of southern milk and garlic can be tasted when chewed carefully, which is different from the crispy taste of Chengzhulou. The chicken cake that is suitable for tea and wine is a good gift for relatives and friends, but it is easy to get tired of eating too much, so it is recommended to taste it with tea.
