People's Square business district

People's Square business district
After the opening of Shanghai's port, the Shanghai People's Square area was originally a horse racing hall for horse racing activities. Now in a broad sense, People's Square refers to an open square, park and a series of supporting cultural, tourism and commercial buildings. As it is the seat of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, it is surrounded by the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall and the Shanghai Museum, with a rich cultural atmosphere and a beautiful overall environment.
The People's Square business district is also favored by many big brands, and those well-known luxury brands can be found here. What distinguishes these malls is not the grade of the brand and the price, but the distinctive characteristics of each mall. For example, Raffles City, where many online celebrity stores gather, Yongan Department Store, which is full of the history of old Shanghai, and Dimei Shopping Center, which is located on the basement floor, can leave a deep impression after one visit.
Most of the shopping malls in the business district are concentrated on the northeast side of People's Square, built around the People's Square subway station, with convenient transportation. Being in the core area, it is also facing the problem of road congestion during peak hours, so it is recommended to avoid peak travel.

The No. 1 Department Store in Shanghai
Shanghai No. 1 Department Store is the first state-owned department store retail enterprise after the founding of the People's Republic of China, also known as Zhongbaiyi Store and No. 1 Department Store. The building was designed by Mr. Kwan Yusheng, a Chinese architect who studied in the United States, and the building has won the Best Architectural Design Award in Asia. At present, Shanghai No. 1 Department Store has now merged with Hualian Co., Ltd. to form Shanghai Bailian Group Co., Ltd.
Due to the old hardware, the First Department Store began to close its stores in June 2017 for comprehensive adjustment, and merged with the neighboring Oriental Commercial Building to build a new "100 Commercial Center", which has now been basically completed. The new store is divided into three halls: A, B, and C, and the open atrium area also hosts frequent events. The "Sycamore" theme area of golden flowers and leaves is made of white, gold and beige, spanning three to six floors, which is elegant and luxurious.
Each floor has been arranged with great care. The fourth floor of the children's clothing area is covered with colorful carpets, and the atmosphere is warm and lively, while the seventh floor arranges a VR experience hall, a "100 Lane Cultural Space", a large number of old Shanghai nostalgic items are exhibited, full of age, and the jewelry counter has been moved to the basement floor. The newly installed elevator entrance mimics the gate of the shikumen and uses a clock-like dial to calculate the floors, which is very retro, as if traveling between old Shanghai and modern life.

Raffles City Shanghai
Opened in 2004, Raffles City Shanghai still has a brand new look, both indoor and outdoor decoration is excellently maintained, and the shopping environment is bright and spacious, which is particularly prominent among the many shopping malls in the People's Square area.
This sense of novelty does not only come from the appearance, for the introduction and cultivation of online celebrity stores and "hot styles", Raffles City can be said to be well versed in it, and firmly grasps the psychology of consumers who like the new and hate the old, such as: Light Cheese, Old Beijing Tiger Skin Dumplings, Haring Bullfrog Noodles, Hey Tea, Awfully Chocolate, Chef Bao and other brands have entered the market, so that every popular popularity is related to Raffles. At the same time, the brand is updated faster than similar shopping malls. Classic brands such as FURLA, KATE SPADE NEW YORK, MICHAEL KORS, I DO are permanent stores, but the prices are on the expensive side and there are fewer discount activities.
With convenient transportation, close to the People's Square subway station and located at the intersection of 3 subway lines, it is the first choice for gatherings and meetings.
