Founded in 2002, the Experimental School Affiliated to Tsinghua University was once part of the junior high school of Tsinghua University High School, specializing in recruiting Tsinghua children, and the school became a complete middle school in 2011. For more than 10 years, Tsinghua Experiment has always troubled parents in Beijing, and it shares the same faculty, campus, and even school uniforms with Tsinghua University High School, but the admission score is lower than that of Tsinghua University High School. Tsinghua Experiment looks like a private high school, but it is actually a commercial enrollment channel for Tsinghua High School.

Around 2014, the score line of Tsinghua University's experimental admission often fluctuated, but the average data was close to that of the High School Affiliated to the National People's Congress, and parents often compared and discussed the two schools. The online rate of Tsinghua University's experimental key undergraduate courses is about 90%-100%, and about 4-9 students can enter the top 100 of Tsinghua University High School, while the number of students with scores of 590-610 is relatively large. On the whole, it is close to the strength of the High School Affiliated to the National People's Congress, but the performance distribution of Tsinghua Experimental School is more discrete, and sometimes it can cultivate Tsinghua University, Peking University students and second-year students at the same time.

On the other hand, the results of the Tsinghua Experimental College Entrance Examination are very close to those of the ordinary class of the High School Affiliated to the High School, but the scores of the experimental school are lower than the latter, which is not unrelated to the class arrangement and teaching mode. The experimental school enrolls about 90 students every year, divided into 2-3 classes, which are directly assigned to the corresponding grade of the headquarters of Tsinghua High School, and the teaching management is exactly the same as the non-key classes of the headquarters, and there is no partiality. This allows the students of Tsinghua Experiment to fully enjoy the faculty of prestigious schools, which is significantly better than most public schools.

The current situation of discrete grades is related to the source of students, and the students of the junior high school often regard the experimental school as an alternative program in the parallel volunteer recruitment, and occasionally the failure of the high school entrance examination with outstanding strength enters the school, and the teachers of the experimental school are not bad, and it is not surprising that the students of the Northern Qing Dynasty are cultivated. On the other hand, the students also include the children of Tsinghua University and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and some of them have different attitudes towards education than the mainstream concept, which also indirectly affects the grades and export preferences of the college entrance examination.

In contrast, the class teaching mode has little effect on the distribution of grades. In 2014, Tsinghua High School began to experiment with hierarchical teaching, but with a conservative attitude. The school first makes a tentative study in the junior high school and the international department, and the high school has a certain framework boundary for class teaching. Classroom classes are limited to additional courses, and the school does not break the original administrative class structure, and the class teacher is responsible for supervising the study. This is also a major benefit for the students of the experimental school, who are deeply mixed with the students of the ordinary class of the department, and the teachers teach without discrimination.

Tsinghua University High School has a wide range of activities, and students have the opportunity to travel to teach and participate in various municipal competitions. In contrast, the high school is a little dull, but its student club is still vibrant, and it is reported that there was also a Cantonese club, which is relatively rare in private high schools. In addition, according to the original intention of the school management, clubs are designed for high school students, and many clubs that already exist in junior high school do not tend to be "legalized" until high school, which enhances the continuity of the independent group of students in the affiliated high school, and joining the club organization is conducive to the integration of new students into the direct promotion group of Tsinghua University High School.

In 2018, the school renovated the library, and the number of books in the upgraded collection exceeded 130,000. The evening after-school time of the high school is about 1 hour, and the meal is staggered with the junior high school, and only "leftovers" can be enjoyed due to conditions. The dormitory quota of Tsinghua Experimental School is about 35 people, and the admission score line is usually the same as that of day students, sometimes slightly higher by 1-2 points, and the accommodation fee is 3,600 yuan/semester. Day students who wish to study in the evening must apply to the school, and the self-study time is 19:00-21:30.
