The branch of the High School Affiliated to the University of Science and Technology was originally the junior high school of the High School Affiliated to the University of Science and Technology, and was converted into a private school in 2001, but the school is affiliated to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and is a state-owned private school. In 2004, the branch school became a full secondary school, and its junior high school was better than the main school, and the development of the high school was not smooth.

In the early stage of development, the school's college entrance examination results were not ideal, and the undergraduate online rate in 2009 was only about 50%, and in 2010 and 2011, it stopped recruiting high school freshmen. Recruitment resumed in 2012, and students were tested in the college entrance examination in 2015, but their performance was not impressive. Since 2016, there has been a significant increase, and the undergraduate online rate has recovered to 50% that year, and exceeded 83% in 2017. The 2016 college entrance examination graduates scored 397 points, and the 2017 graduate year was 377 points, and the two scores were ranked after 12,000 in the corresponding high school entrance examination in Haidian District.

The results of polytechnic campuses change rapidly, which is not unrelated to the allocation of teachers. Before 2009, the school had 6 special-grade teachers, and more than 40% of the teachers were subject leaders or backbone teachers in the urban area, but the school began to adjust the teacher ratio for the replacement of the old and the new. After 2011, although the voice of the branch school in the municipal and district teaching and research groups has weakened, the age ratio of teachers has been smoother, with 40% of teachers holding master's or postgraduate degrees, and more than 80% of teachers holding intermediate and senior professional titles in 2017.

The Polytechnic branch is strictly managed, and its teaching methods are relatively traditional, although elective courses are offered, but the content is boring, and most of them are traditional literature categories such as poetry appreciation. In terms of activities, it also inherits a similar style, usually focusing on traditional virtues and modern history, but there will be study tours in the second year of high school, and it is likely to go to other provinces to go deep into natural scenic spots and experience the traditional cultural village lifestyle.

The campus is very small, with an area of only 9,000 square meters, less than 1.5 standard football fields. In 2015, the school underwent a renovation that did not include the expansion project, and the congestion on the campus has not eased, but the quality of the canteen has been significantly improved, the dessert section has been strengthened, and fruit is served for dinner.

The reputation of the junior high school of the Polytechnic branch is obviously better than that of the high school, and the students who stay in the school are very rare, but with the improvement of the high school grades year by year, it has gradually entered the attention of parents, and sometimes the students with intermediate grades are listed as the minimum guarantee plan for recruitment. The school only enrolls about 70 students every year, the school building is small, and the number of accommodation places is limited, so it is best for families who need to live on campus to consult in advance.
