Donghuamen Kindergarten was founded in 1924 and is one of the earliest kindergartens in China. Tung Wah Mun Kindergarten was formerly a kindergarten under the private Confucian School, founded by the famous early childhood educator Mr. Zhang Xuemen, and became a public kindergarten after being taken over by the government in 1952. After years of reform and development, Donghuamen now has three parks: headquarters, branch gardens and small classes, and is a first-class kindergarten in Beijing, a demonstration park in Beijing, a health care demonstration park in Beijing, an early education demonstration base in Beijing, and a key state-guest reception unit in Beijing.

Donghuamen Kindergarten is located on the east side of the Forbidden City, close to the Imperial City Ruins Park, and adjacent to the Supreme Procuratorate, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and other state departments. The park covers an area of 3,000 square meters, with a total of 19 teaching classes, indoor teaching areas and outdoor activity areas. The renovated outdoor activity area is made entirely of eco-friendly plastic materials, and is equipped with equipment such as children's climbing, slides, and a dollhouse. There are special classrooms such as children's multi-purpose hall, children's social activity room, science activity room, art classroom, and children's library. The classes in this division are divided into Kindergarten and Kindergarten students, and children in Nursery will be transferred to the main class when they are promoted to Kindergarten. There are kindergarten and kindergarten classes, and children will be transferred to the main class when they are in the large class. Each branch is located in Donghuamen Street, and the distance between the small class and the headquarters is a community, which does not have much impact on the pick-up and drop-off of parents.

Donghuamen kindergarten has a strong teacher, now there are 69 teachers, including 53 teachers, all of whom have reached college degree or above, 30 people with intermediate and above professional and technical titles, 2 city backbone teachers, and 6 district backbone teachers. As a public kindergarten, Donghuamen Kindergarten has close cooperation with local streets and communities. Since 2012, Donghuamen Kindergarten and Donghuamen Street and the community jointly founded the first early education guidance center in Dongcheng District, a number of teachers carry out early education guidance services for parents and infants in the community every week, and also have parent-child classes in the early education center to provide parent-child picture book education for children before the age of 3.

Donghuamen's annual enrollment requirements and enrollment quotas are not fixed, and will also change with the policy of preschool education of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. Generally speaking, to enroll in Donghuamen Kindergarten, Dongcheng District household registration (settled in the immediate family) and Dongcheng District real estate (house ownership certificate or public residential lease contract) are indispensable, and the property should preferably belong to the parents of the child, and the child is born here.
