JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing - Institutional Reviews

JW Marriott is a high-end brand of the Marriott group and is often referred to as an upgraded version of Marriott hotels, but unfortunately, the performance of JW Marriott in Chongqing is not as good as that of Chongqing Marriott. JW Marriott's history in Chongqing is complex, in 1999, Marriott Hotel entered Chongqing, located in Qingnian Road, Yuzhong District, is the first five-star hotel in Chongqing. In 2004, Chongqing Marriott upgraded its name to JW Marriott, becoming the 8th JW brand hotel in China. In July 2014, the Qingnian Road store was closed, and in November of the same year, the JW Marriott Hotel on the former Chongqing hotel plot on Minsheng Road was opened.

JW Marriott Chongqing is very different from most JW Marriott in terms of design, but with a strong Shangri-La hotel feel. The reason is that the owner of the plot where JW Marriott is located is the Chongqing Hotel, and the management party introduced at the beginning of the construction is the Shangri-La Hotel, so the interior is all built according to Shangri-La standards. Soon after it was built, the Shangri-La Hotel withdrew and was taken over by JW Marriott, which is now the JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing.

JW Marriott, like the Westin, is located in the Jiefangbei business district, adjacent to Times Square, the World Financial Center, and a 30-minute drive from Jiangbei International Airport and Longtousi Railway Station. The hotel is equipped with 3 specialty restaurants, executive lounges and 11 conference halls of different styles, as well as leisure facilities such as fitness center, heated swimming pool and spa. The service staff is trained in place, smiling and polite throughout the process, giving people a home-like service experience. The only flaw is that the guest rooms are not in good condition.

The hotel has a total of 445 rooms, including 35 executive suites, 1 executive suite, 1 presidential suite and 10 apartments. Except for dozens of suites, most of the ordinary rooms are located on the lower floors, and the view is very average because you can only see the old buildings from the window. The overall area of the guest rooms is small, and some corner rooms are cramped, and the room types at the same price are far less than those of the Marriott Hotel. The most criticized by the guests is the interior decoration of the guest rooms, with mahogany-style tables and chairs, beige rose carpets, velvet sofas, gold-framed plum blossom paintings, retro table lamps and other decorations that are abused as "Chinese-style old cadre style", without the luxury and sophistication of an international five-star hotel.

Among the three restaurants, the Chinese restaurant Marriott Xuan is the most recommended. Marriott Restaurant's meals are mainly Cantonese cuisine, followed by Sichuan cuisine, serving dozens of classic dishes. The restaurant's chef Zeng Fanjing is a native of Qingyuan, Guangzhou, who has been engaged in Cantonese cooking for more than 20 years, and the dishes are authentic, such as black truffle xiaolongbao, auspicious ruyi, stewed whelk with agaricus mushroom, fried Angus beef cubes with garlic slices and green onions, and poplar branch nectar. Western restaurants and cafeterias are slightly inferior, and there will be a certain risk of lightning strikes.
