The Bashu civilization has left many outstanding works of art, which are quite regional. Many of these precious cultural relics are included in the Sichuan Museum and have high appreciation value. In addition, Zhang Daqian's calligraphy and painting works in the collection of Chuan Bo are also quite eye-catching.
Founded in 1941 and completed in 2009, the Sichuan Museum is the largest comprehensive museum in southwest China. Chuanbo is located in the Huanhuaxi Historical and Cultural Scenic Area, adjacent to Du Fu Thatched Cottage and Huanhuaxi Park. There are 14 exhibition halls in the museum, including 10 permanent exhibitions and four temporary exhibition halls, including calligraphy and painting, ceramics, bronzes, ethnic cultural relics, arts and crafts, Tibetan Buddhism, stone carvings of Ten Thousand Buddha Temple, Zhang Daqian's calligraphy and painting, and pottery and stone art of the Han Dynasty. The museum has a total collection of more than 320,000 pieces of cultural relics, including more than 50,000 pieces of precious cultural relics, mainly works of art, and there is no Sichuan history and nature theme pavilion.
The Sichuan Museum has 3 floors, the first floor has the Sichuan Han Dynasty Dow Art Museum; On the second floor, there are Zhang Daqian Art Museum, Bashu Bronze Exhibition Hall, Ceramic Boutique Exhibition Hall, and Calligraphy and Painting Museum; On the third floor, there are Tibetan Buddhist Cultural Relics Museum, Arts and Crafts Art Museum, Sichuan National Cultural Relics Museum and Ten Thousand Buddha Temple Stone Carving Museum.
Zhang Daqian Art Museum is divided into three units: Dunhuang mural copying, early freehand paintings, and Zhang Daqian's seals, with Dunhuang murals being the most brilliant. Zhang Daqian copied more than 200 Dunhuang murals, 183 pieces were collected by the Sichuan Museum, and some of the fine copied paintings and Zhang Daqian's painting life in Dunhuang were displayed in the Zhang Daqian Art Museum.
The Bashu Bronze Exhibition Hall is divided into five units: Bamboo Tile Smoke Cloud, Majia Wangqi, Hundred Flowers Liufang, Legacy Rhyme, and Yangzi Afterglow, displaying bronzes unearthed from Yangzi Mountain, Sanxingdui, Jinsha and other Bashu areas. The bronzes of the Shu Kingdom in Cuba are very distinctive, and the patterns are not the same as those of the Great Unification Period. Bronze bladed ware is the most distinctive and common type of Bashu bronzes, with inscriptions engraved with special characters, as well as palms, flower pedicles, tigers, birds and other shapes.
The Arts and Crafts Museum is a great place to learn about Sichuan folk crafts, with lacquerware and shadow puppetry being the most special. Lacquerware is a wooden and bamboo handicraft coated with lacquer on the surface, and lacquer can be used for both antiseptic and decorative purposes. Shadow puppetry is a puppet show that was widely spread in ancient China. Sichuan shadow puppets are mainly carved with cowhide, exaggerated and funny, and the face costumes are mostly imitation of Sichuan opera, with strong local characteristics.
