Wangjiang Tower-Institutional Reviews

Wangjiang Tower is the general name of the Ming and Qing Dynasty architectural complexes based on the memorial site of the Tang Dynasty poetess Xue Tao, and is a national key cultural relics protection unit. Wangjiang Tower is located on the south bank of the Jinjiang River, in Wangjianglou Park, as a cultural relics protection area and separated from the open garden area. Wangjiang Tower and Wuhou Temple, Du Fu Thatched Cottage are the same celebrity memorial sites, but Xue Tao's reputation is weak, Wangjiang Tower's popularity is not high, its architectural monuments are beautiful in shape, and there is still a certain sightseeing value.

Xue Tao is a famous female poet in the Tang Dynasty, known as the four great female poets of the Tang Dynasty together with Yu Xuanji, Li Ye and Liu Caichun, and together with Zhuo Wenjun, Mrs. Hua Rui and Huang E, she is known as the four talented women in Shuzhong, and her talent is highly recognized. Therefore, the descendants kept the old site of Chengdu where Xue Tao lived and built a memorial building on the side. Today, the Xue Tao cultural relics site and the adjacent ancient buildings of the Qing Dynasty are included in the Wangjianglou Scenic Area for visitors to enjoy and remember Xue Tao.

Xue Tao Memorial Hall is located in the middle of the scenic spot, the west is the bamboo culture exhibition area, and the east side gathers historical buildings and Xue Tao commemorative cultural relics. The main buildings of the park include Chongli Pavilion, Mao Jin Building, Huanjian Pavilion, Wuyun Immortal Pavilion, Liubei Pond and Spring Champs. Chongli Pavilion was originally a local feng shui building built for the prosperity of literature and fortune, and the high school of candidates, because it was built near the river, and was commonly known as Wangjiang Tower. Chongli Pavilion is an all-wood tenon structure, the roof is covered with green glazed tiles, and the roof ridge is decorated with exquisite clay sculptures and character carvings, which has the steady and majestic architecture of the northern building, and the beauty and exquisiteness of the Jiangnan pavilion. The building is also dedicated to Wenqu Xing, and many tourists who hope to have a high career and academic success pay special respects.

The poetry building was built in the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, according to the poetry building in Xue Tao's former residence in his later years, and the sculptures displayed in the building show the scene of Xue Tao singing poetry and harmony with his poet friends Yuan Zhen, Bai Juyi, Du Mu, etc. The Huanjian Pavilion was built to commemorate Xue Tao's note-making, and the Wuyunxian Pavilion displays 39 of Xue Tao's most representative poems, as well as the Chinese painting master Zhang Daqian's "Xue Tao's Note-making Map". Xue Tao once wrote poems on his own peach-colored note in order to send a letter to his lover. This kind of paper paper is delicate and has a unique style, which was an advanced papermaking product at that time and was deeply loved by literati and scholars. Later generations imitated it and called it Xue Tao's note. There are other cultural relics in the scenic area, such as Xue Taojing, Xue Tao's tomb, Xue Tao's statue, farewell wharf, etc.

Wangjianglou Park, where the scenic spot is located, is famous for its bamboo scenery and is the largest bamboo park in China. There are more than 300 varieties of precious bamboo species at home and abroad in the park, with thousands of forms and forests, which are eye-opening. Walking in the park, Wan Qian cultivates bamboo, bamboo shadow robe, secluded forest, quite a bit of artistic conception. Wangjianglou Park is divided into two, the cultural relics protection area requires an entrance fee, the price is 20 yuan, and the garden open area is free.
