Paulaner Bräuhaus is a well-known home-brewery brand of the Paulaner Group, one of the most famous breweries in Munich, the beer capital, with a history dating back to 1634. Paulana Restaurant has been acclaimed since its opening at Kempinski Hotel Beijing in 1992 and has opened dozens of restaurant chains in many cities in China for more than 20 years.
Caustic bread is a very characteristic of German bread, common twisted bread, alkali salt sticks, etc., this kind of bread needs to be soaked in alkaline water before baking, and after baking, it will form a dark brown color and a unique alkaline flavor. Paulana's lye twisted packets have a lightly salty taste and a firm mouthfeel that can be paired with three sauces for aperitifs.
German food has always been rough and bold, with a particular preference for meat products, among which German sausage and roast pork knuckle are two typical dishes. The sausage platter in Chengdu is much simpler than in other cities, with only three types of sausages: pork sausage, Nuremberg sausage and Frankfurter sausage. Among them, the Nuremberg sausage is relatively coarse and grainy in the mouth, while the Frankfurt sausage has a tight texture and a more delicate taste. Paulana's pork knuckle is made in the classic Bavarian way, lightly marinated and then grilled over medium heat, followed by a high heat until the skin is golden brown and crispy. The freshly served pork knuckle is a tempting color and crispy mouth, making it particularly satisfying to eat, but it is easy to get greasy, so it is best enjoyed with German sauerkraut.
Prana is a brand of the long-established brewer Paulaner, so beer is naturally a must-try. The restaurant offers three beers in a selection of yellow, dark and wheat beers, all of which are brewed by our resident brewers using Paulaner's traditional techniques, and are naturally cloudy and foamy, with a clean and mild drink.
Prana has been a chain in China for many years, and stores in other cities have maintained good quality control, but the Chengdu store is a little perfunctory, and the types of bread, cold cuts, sausages and other dishes have been greatly reduced, and then local dishes such as grilled fish and skewers have been brought in to enrich the menu. The availability and production of dishes is also not stable enough, and the overall standard is much lower than in other cities.
Located on the 1st floor of the Kempinski Hotel, Plana is a restaurant with a typical German restaurant style with a modern twist on traditional country style. There are a number of brewing equipment indoors, and the outdoor beer garden has outdoor seating, so it's another pleasure to sit at the open-air tables on a clear night. The restaurant service needs to be improved, the staff is lazy, the service is not timely enough, because most of the meals need to be baked on the spot, and the serving speed will be relatively slow.
