Another well-known attraction in Zhongshan Scenic Area is Sun Yat-sen's mausoleum - Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is located in the east of Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, with a total area of more than 80,000 square meters, the building mainly includes the archway, the tomb road, the mausoleum gate, the stone steps, the stele pavilion, the sacrificial hall and the tomb chamber, etc., the layers are arranged on a central axis with the mountain rise, looking down from the air, the overall layout is like the "alarm bell" pattern.
The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is very different from the Ming Tomb, it is no longer a palace-like building of the ancient emperor's mausoleum, and it is not a traditional brick and stone structure. The 392 stone steps and 10 platforms are all made of white granite and reinforced concrete, and the top is covered with cyan glazed tiles, which is very elegant in the Republic of China period. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum retains many historical traces of the Kuomintang period of the Republic of China, such as the four big characters of "the world is for the public" engraved on the mausoleum gate, the banner of "nationality, civil rights, and people's livelihood" engraved on the lintel of the sacrificial hall, the marble statue of Sun Yat-sen is erected in the memorial hall, and the full text of the "Outline of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" is engraved on the wall. The sacrificial hall is the highest point of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, and when you look down from the outside of the sacrificial hall, you can see a wide field of vision, and you can see the scenery at the bottom of the mountain. Behind the sacrificial hall is the tomb of Sun Yat-sen, whose remains are placed in the Copper Pavilion for people to pay respects. If you want to enter the burial chamber to pay your respects, you need to make a detour around and queue up to enter the burial chamber.
In addition to the mausoleum, there are also many outbuildings for tourists to take a rest. On the contrary, it is an attraction that is easily overlooked by tourists. The roof of the Liuhui Pavilion is a roll-up shed type, covered with milky white glazed tiles, green fences, and three sides of the water. Surrounded by trees and water, it is a rare graceful beauty in the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum for photography enthusiasts or ordinary tourists who just want to record their visit.
The bandstand, located near the archway, is a supporting building of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, which was once used as a place for musical performances and speeches during the ceremony to commemorate Sun Yat-sen, and later concerts were often held here. The orchestra stage has the characteristics of ancient Greek architecture, the whole plane is semicircular, the center of the circle is the stage, and the back of the stage is built with a large curved wall to gather sound waves. But there is not much special about the bandstand, there are only a lot of pigeons, you can buy pigeon food to feed and take pictures, it is more like an ordinary park. The ticket price of the music station is 10 yuan per person, and it is not recommended to buy a separate ticket to go.
The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is now open to the public free of charge, and real-name reservations are implemented, which can be registered on the official website of Zhongshan Scenic Area or WeChat public account. The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is closed every Monday, and it is recommended that tourists who want to visit it plan their travel time and choose the time slot to enter one day in advance to avoid full reservations on the same day.
