From this section of the city wall, you can overlook the greenery of the Purple Mountain, the sparkling of Xuanwu Lake up close, and the Jiming Temple is also in full view. This section includes Shence Gate, Xuanwu Gate, Liberation Gate, etc., with a total length of about 6 kilometers and 7 entrances to the city. Shence Gate is the most well-preserved city gate among the thirteen inner city gates of the Ming Dynasty, and it still retains the Qing Dynasty city tower and the iron clad wooden gate; Xuanwu Gate is adjacent to Xuanwu Lake, and Jiming Temple is only one street away.

The section from Dongshuiguan to Jiqingmen is more humanistic. This section is located on the south line of the city wall, adjacent to the Qinhuai scenery belt of Confucius Temple, with 5 entrances to the city. After boarding the city, you can overlook the historical areas such as Laomen East, Laomen West, Yuhuatai, Dabao'en Temple, Bailuzhou, etc., and feel the style of Nanjing's old city. The most magnificent Zhonghua Gate Inner Urn City in the city wall is also included here, and its unique four-arch design and well-preserved Tibetan Soldier Cave are the embodiment of ancient military defense.

The section from Fuguishan to Lanqi Street is located on the east line of the city wall, with a total length of only about 2.8 kilometers.

The section from Qingliangmen to the Central Gate is about 6.9 kilometers, and there are 9 Dengcheng gates, including Shicheng Gate, Qingliang Gate, Rujiang Gate, Yifeng Gate, etc. This section is free and open to the public throughout the day. This section of the city wall is more dilapidated, and compared with other sections of the city, there are fewer scenic spots, and there are not too many supporting facilities and places to visit.

If you visit the section from Shence Gate to Taiping Gate, it is recommended to visit with Xuanwu Lake, or you can climb the wall directly from the back gate of Jiming Temple.
