Rusi Book Bar is a self-operated brand of Nanjing Jinao International Shopping Center, established in 2015. The bookstore does not pay as much attention to the size of the store and the variety of books as the bookstore, but pays more attention to creating a relaxed reading atmosphere, and the business philosophy of the bookstore is to create a space for cultural exchange and communication.
With an area of more than 300 square meters, the book bar selects books once a week, which is more frequent, and the books in the store have been continuously enriched, from 13,000 at the beginning of the opening to 20,000 today. There are a complete range of books, including literature, art, landscape, social science, life and other categories, in addition to some foreign edition books, and there are few book samples. In terms of book display, Rusi Book Bar is divided into exhibition shelves, book walls, bar counters, three-dimensional lampposts and other spaces, and different types of books are placed in different areas. The fly in the ointment is that the book bar does not clearly classify the books, the book labels are chaotic and mixed, and finding books is very time-consuming.
Many details of Rusi Book Bar are remarkable. The book bar has ladder shelves for easy access to books on the upper floors, and there are also two computers for free trials. In terms of decoration, the book bar adopts a sound-absorbing gypsum ceiling, and the walls are also suitable for sound absorption with soft packaging decorative cloth to create a quieter reading environment for readers.
The offline activities of Rusi Book Bar are rich and diverse, but there are not too many new ideas and characteristics. In cooperation with Wu Xiaobo's Nanjing Reading Club and the Book Demolition Gang, the book bar regularly holds lectures, reading clubs, sharing sessions and other activities. The bookstore will also carry out experience activities or training courses from time to time, such as handicraft, weaving, flower arrangement, paper-cutting, knotting, etc., which need to be registered in the official account of the book bar.
The shortcomings of Rusi Book Bar cannot be ignored either. Although cultural and creative products are one of the main businesses of the book bar, they are not many in number and ordinary in kind, and most of them are handbooks, pens and other stationery. Due to the limited space, the book bar is divided into a separate children's area, which is not fully functional compared to the bookstores at the top of this list.
