Wangjia wonton - business reviews

Nanjing people like to eat wontons, Jinling wontons have a lot of soup, so the locals will "eat wontons" as "drink wontons". However, unlike the traditional Jinling wontons, Wangjia wontons are big and full, and they are well known in Nanjing because of the delicious soup, and they have also appeared on CCTV's "Taste" program as a special delicacy in Nanjing. Wang's wontons were founded by Wang Chengshi in 1983 as a temporary stall for hawkers. In 1985, due to his courage in the bank robbery, the Nanjing Municipal Government rewarded him with a fixed stall, and Wang's wontons settled in Yuhuatai.

The wonton meat filling in the store is made of pork hind leg meat, which is moderately fat and thin, and has a tender taste. The wonton wrappers are hand-rolled at home, and the skin is thin and chewy, so as not to break the skin and expose the filling. The delicious soup is also one of the reasons for the popularity of Wang's wontons. The soup is made of bones, it takes two or three hours to use, there is no meat in the soup and there is a meat fragrance, pepper and shrimp skin are added to enhance the freshness, the taste is light but not bland. The wonton has a light taste, and with the addition of homemade chili oil in the store, the wonton is fresh and spicy, and the taste is very different. Raw wontons are also sold in the store, and customers can buy them back and cook them themselves.

Wang's wontons set up stores in Jiqingmen, Yuhuatai and Andemen, and Wang Chengshi's three sons took care of them. The taste of the three stores is the same, but Wang Hongwu, the manager of the Jiqing store, has become a small hit on the Internet because of the bowl throwing stunt, attracting a large number of customers to watch. The Jiqing store moved from Laifeng Community to Jiqing Road, and the façade became larger. The store is clean and tidy, the operation room is semi-open, and the boss is quick with his hands and feet, setting up bowls, shabu-shabu, and adjusting the soup base in one go. It is recommended that guests go to the Jiqing store, and before tasting the wontons, they can also enjoy the boss's bowl throwing skills, which is quite fun.
