Yu Mountain, known as Wumu Mountain in ancient times, was named Yu Mountain in the Shang and Zhou dynasties because the ancestor of the south of the Yangtze River, Yu Zhong (that is, Zhong Yong) was buried here. Shanghu Scenic Area is adjacent to Yushan Mountain, and it is said that Jiang Shang (Jiang Ziya) is named after fishing in seclusion here. The scenic area includes 7 scenic spots, including Hexiang Island, Juxiang Island, Peach Blossom Island, Fenglin Island, Songbird Island, Yule Island, and Yanyu Island. Shanghu Scenic Area can be visited all year round, peony in spring, lotus in summer, metasequoia in autumn, and snow in winter. Shanghu Peony Garden is the most well-known in Shanghu Scenic Area, with more than 300 varieties and more than 50,000 peony flowers in the peony garden. The peony flower festival held in Shanghu every spring is famous far and wide. Shanghu Scenic Area is larger, it takes about three hours to visit the whole scenic area on foot, there are electric cars and bicycles in the scenic area, and there are cruise ships for tourists to relax on the water.
