The British School of Shanghai has been in operation since 2002 and is one of the oldest international schools in Shanghai, with two campuses in Pudong and Puxi, now known as Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, and the British School of Shanghai Puxi. Also named after the country as an international school, the British School of Shanghai does not have the official background of the American School of Shanghai, but is wholly owned by the British Nord Anglia Education Group. Nord Anglia has dozens of international schools around the world, located in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
The British School of Shanghai curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum and is integrated with the International Primary Years Curriculum (IPC), Cambridge IGCSE and the IB curriculum. Prior to Year 10, the British School of Shanghai curriculum was guided by the English National Curriculum and supplemented by the IPC International Primary Curriculum, which was largely the same as that of a local school in the UK. In Years 10 and 11, students need to study the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) course, which is the most popular two-year curriculum system abroad, similar to the middle school curriculum, and is part of the Cambridge Global Tests. In Year 12, students begin the IBDP programme in preparation for university applications.
Developed by Nord Anglia in collaboration with the world-renowned Juilliard School, the British School of Shanghai (BSB) has developed 12 courses covering a variety of styles, genres and genres, allowing students to learn about music in a variety of dimensions. In addition, the Juilliard School sends experts to visit or teach at the school, and students have the opportunity to learn from top musicians.
