Founded in 1918, Peking University People's Hospital, formerly known as Beijing Central Hospital, was the first comprehensive western medicine hospital built and managed by Chinese themselves. In the 2016 "China's Best Hospital Ranking" published by the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University, the hospital was nominated in the top 10 in the dermatology specialty subdivision.

The Department of Dermatology and Venereology of Peking University People's Hospital is currently a national key discipline and a key clinical specialty of the Ministry of Health.
