Peking University Third Hospital-Institutional Review

Founded in 1958, Peking University Third Hospital (hereinafter referred to as "Peking University Third Hospital") ranked 13th in the "Best Hospital Ranking in China" published by the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University in 2016.

Founded in 1958, the Department of Dermatology and Venereology of the hospital is currently a national key discipline of the Ministry of Education and a unit of the Fungal Disease Research Center of Peking University. At present, the outpatient and emergency department has nearly 250,000 person-times per year, which is in the forefront of Beijing, and due to the accumulation of a large number of cases, the department has rich experience in the treatment of incurable diseases, and has won the hospital-level difficult and critical case award for many times.

The department is located on the 5th floor of the main hospital building, with 9 consultation rooms, and there are electronic calling screens at the entrance of each consultation room, which is convenient for patients to check the waiting room and diagnosis and treatment time. The waiting area is large and transparent, which can accommodate a large number of patients waiting for treatment.

The disease treatment physicians in the department have rich experience in disease diagnosis and clinical treatment, and the representative physicians are Dr. Song Qinghua and Dr. Xu Minli, who is a doctor of medicine and deputy chief physician, who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of genital warts, vaginitis, gonorrhea, non-gonococcal urethritis and syphilis, while Xu Minli, deputy chief physician, is good at the treatment and excision of giant genital warts. Genital warts, caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), are one of the fastest-growing STDs in recent years, second only to gonorrhoea, with an average incubation period of 3 months. At the beginning of the disease, there are no symptoms, and at the onset of the disease, the disease will produce raised reddish papules or papillomatous, cauliflower, and cockscomb-like growths at sexual contact sites such as male external genitalia, anus, female vulva, vagina, cervix, and perianal area, and often brownish-gray flat papules or plaques in dry skin areas. Diagnosis of the disease is based on a history of unclean sexual exposure, typical lesions, and white acetate testing, which can be confirmed by histopathological examination and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Because genital warts are prone to recurrence, patients diagnosed with the disease need to be treated as soon as possible to eliminate the latent lesion and prevent recurrence.

The layout of the hospital is clear and distinct, the flow density is moderate, and the registration and waiting experience is good. Patients can register online through the "Service Account of the Third Hospital of Beijing Medical University", and the registration fee is divided into 60, 80 and 100 yuan according to the doctor's level and service level. It is worth noting that Dr. Song Qinghua only sits on Monday mornings, Tuesdays and Thursday mornings, and Dr. Xu Minli only sits on Tuesdays, Fridays and Wednesday afternoons.
