But in fact, there have been signs of the rise of the High School Affiliated to Peking University, which was once the only private school in the top ten in Nanshan District.

Founded by the Education Bureau of Nanshan District, Shenzhen and the High School Affiliated to Peking University, Peking University High School is a boarding state-owned private school integrating primary school, junior high school and high school.

From 2013 to 2016, the rate of the four high schools affiliated to Peking University remained at about 15% all year round, ranking among the best in Nanshan District. In the 2017 high school entrance examination, the number of students admitted to the four major schools was 30, and the rate of the four major schools was 13.51%; 65 students were admitted to the Eight Universities, with a rate of 29.28%; 80 students were admitted to the top ten, with a rate of 36.04%. One of the characteristics of the High School Affiliated to Peking University is the practice of small-class teaching, with 8 classes in each grade, and the number of students in each class is about 36, and there are no key classes. In terms of teaching, it pays attention to students' English reading and speaking ability, and offers international understanding courses, including ESL English courses, science, art, etc., all of which use original English textbooks and hire foreign teachers to teach classes. In the third year of junior high school, the school offers international classes, and students can transfer to foreign high schools through F visas in the second year of high school, and the main destination is North America. According to the students, most of the teachers in the school are stricter and have a lot of homework, and there will be monthly exams every month from the beginning of junior high school, and there are countless mock exams in the third year of junior high school.

In 2018, the High School Affiliated to Peking University will open a new campus in Shajing, with more prominent hardware facilities. Its teachers are shared with the old campus, and the school bus shuttles teachers to and from the old and new campuses. At the same time, the university announced that students who choose to enroll in the new campus in 2018 will be exempted from tuition fees of 11,000 yuan per semester until they graduate from the third year of junior high school. However, after inspecting the new campus, many parents said that the surrounding area is relatively desolate, and it is very likely that they will not consider sending their children to study in the new campus.
