Dannemann was founded by a German businessman who came to Brazil in the second half of the 19th century and established his business here for the rest of his life. In 1867, Dannemann had the ambition to establish the Dannemann Tobacco Company.

As early as 1883, King Dom Pedro of Brazil made his own tour and named Danaman the "Royal Cigar Maker". In 1889, Danneman became mayor of San Felis, and it was he who built Brazil's first railway suspension bridge. After 1950, cigar manufacturing in Brazil became increasingly competitive, but most of the tobacco farmers who grew tobacco were willing to give their tobacco to Dannemann because they were happy to see their tobacco sold all over the world.

Daneman cigars are divided into two categories: those made with Brazilian foreskin tobacco leaves and those made with Sumatran foreskin tobacco leaves. It is this outermost layer of foreskin that gives the cigar its distinctive taste. Brazilian tobacco leaves have a stronger color, a richer flavor, and a mellow flavor. The foreskin tobacco leaves produced in Sumatra are more flexible and soft, and the tobacco leaves are more elegant and delicious, with a slightly nutty taste.
