Focusrite was founded in 1985 by Beatles producer George Martin at the request of Jazz renowned professional audio designer Rupert Neve to design a series of no-compromise modules, microphone preamps and equalizers for the air studios that began in Montserrat and later in London.

As a result, the Input Signal Amplifier (ISA) family was very popular and still is today. On the basis of these designs, in 1988 Focusrite's forte console was introduced, which was the highest quality console of its time.

Phil Dudderidge, a veteran of the audio industry, acquired the company's assets in 1989. A completely new design was ushered in, and in 1990 the famous Focusrite's Studio console was released.
