Nescafe originated in 1930. When the Brazilian government began to approach Nestlé, coffee authority Max Morgantel and his team of researchers immediately set out to find a way to mix the coffee with water while maintaining its original flavor. After seven years of research in a Swiss laboratory, they finally found the answer. Nescafe is now a world-renowned brand.

Nestlé introduced Nestlé products through trading activities in Hong Kong. The first trademark, "Eagle Mark Condensed Milk", was sold on the market as early as 1874. Later, Nestlé established a sales office in Shanghai in 1908 and Nestlé Products Co., Ltd. in Hong Kong in 1920.
Nestlé opened its first factory in China in Twin Cities in 1987 and started production in 1990. Between 1990 and 2006, Nestlé established 16 factories in Chinese mainland. As of 2012, Nestlé has partnered with Yinlu, Hsu Fu Chi, Totole, Wyeth Nutrition, Haoji and Dashan to operate a total of 33 factories in Greater China with 50,000 employees.

These activities include training farmers in the skills they need to engage in sustainable agricultural production, which leads to higher returns for farmers to improve their living standards. Today, more than 200,000 farmers in farming communities benefit directly or indirectly from Nestlé's support and technical assistance.
