Shanghai Hengyuanxiang Velvet Thread Co., Ltd. was founded in 1927. Formerly known as "Hengyuanxiang rayon plush thread" founded by Mr. Shen Laizhou in 1927, it was later renamed "Hengyuanxiang Gongji Velvet Thread Shop". On September 20, 2002, Hengyuanxiang (Group) Co., Ltd. was inaugurated, and Shanghai Hengyuanxiang Velvet Thread Co., Ltd. became one of the subsidiaries of Hengyuanxiang Group.It is a time-honored enterprise in China and the largest manufacturer of hand-knitted wool in China. At present, the company has a number of velvet production lines, with four brands: "Hengyuanxiang", "Xiaonan", "Beibei" and "Laizhende".

The velvet industry has set four Guinness records for the longest needle in velvet braiding, the largest ball of velvet, the thickest velvet and the most expensive velvet.
