All Nippon Airways (ANA) is a Japanese airline founded on December 27, 1952 and headquartered in Shiodome, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan. ANA is a member of the Star Alliance airline alliance. As of March 2007, ANA had 22,170 employees.

All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (Japanese: ぜんにっぽんくうゆ, English: All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd.) is commonly abbreviated as: All Nippon Airways (ANA), and the parent company of All Nippon Airways is the "All Nippon Airways" Group. In October 1999, ANA officially joined Star Alliance.

Business Overview

ANA's main business includes scheduled air transportation business; non-scheduled air transportation; procurement, sale, leasing and maintenance of aircraft and aircraft parts; Air transport ground support business. ANA has a comprehensive network of routes between major cities in Japan, and its international routes extend to Asia, North America, Europe, and more. ANA has the advantage of its route network in Japan and Asia. ANA operates international routes to more than 40 destinations. ANA has a large share of the domestic market in Japan, with more than 800 flights per day, which is close to 50% of the domestic market.

ANA is known for its professional service and is committed to providing the best flight service to business travelers. In 1996, ANA became one of the first airlines to offer 180-degree fully flat seats for first-class passengers. In 2002, ANA introduced the "Comfortable Sleeper" seat to New Style CLUB ANA, a new seat for premium business class and premium economy class passengers on long-haul flights. ANA has set forth its corporate philosophy and goals, and is committed to improving its quality and service. ANA was named Airline of the Year 2007 by Air Transport World. Skytrax was named 4-Star Airline of the Year in 2007.

ANA and China

Mr. Kaheita Okazaki, the second president of ANA, is well known to China and Japan for his efforts to restore diplomatic relations between China and Japan. In August 1972, ANA carried a charter flight to Shanghai, and in September of the same year, it carried a charter flight to Beijing with a press delegation accompanying the Japanese Prime Minister to China. All Nippon Airways is the first Japanese airline to launch regular flights between China and Japan in 1987, following Japan Airlines (JAL). In 2002, ANA began to provide regular all-freighter services between Dalian, Qingdao, Tianjin and Tokyo. All Nippon Airways and Air China and Shanghai Airlines began operating codeshare flights in 2004. As of 2008, 17 routes have been opened between China and Japan, including Hong Kong, with 126 flights per week.

In July 2007, ANA unveiled a special livery of the Flying Panda to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the company's China routes. The cutlery, seats, pillows and flight attendant costumes are all printed with cute panda motifs. ANA solicited the nickname of the airliner from preschoolers across Japan, and eventually named it "Flying Panda".

ANA is actively engaged in social contribution projects in China. In 2002, in order to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan and the 15th anniversary of the opening of ANA in China, ANA submitted to China a catalogue of primary schools donated by ANA in Hebei Province, China. In 2005, ANA began sponsoring the China Table Tennis Super League. In 2004, ANA began sponsoring the Beijing International Marathon.

On June 15, 2010, ANA officially entered into a partnership with Air Macau.
