China Eastern Airlines Co., Ltd., Shanghai Airlines, was established in 1985 and was officially acquired by China Eastern Airlines in 2010

Founded in December 1985, Shanghai Airlines is a commercially operated airline in China that is funded by local governments.On January 28, 2010, the joint restructuring of China Eastern Airlines to absorb and merge with Shanghai Airlines was successfully completed, and Shanghai Airlines became a member of the new China Eastern Airlines。 On May 28, 2010, Shanghai Airlines Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, was officially put into operation.

Shanghai Airlines currently has an advanced fleet of more than 70 aircraft, mainly Boeing and Airbus, and has opened up more than 100 domestic routes, as well as 17 medium and long-haul international and regional routes such as Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Moscow, Hong Kong, Macao and Taipei, transporting 12,395,400 passengers annually.
