Founded in November 1997, Lianhua Convenience is a wholly-invested subsidiary of Lianhua Supermarket Co., Ltd. In July 2002, it was officially renamed as "Lianhua Express" to carry out all-round transformation and upgrading.

At present, Lianhua Express has more than 1,000 outlets, and its scale, sales and profits are in a leading position in the industry, and by 2005, the scale of outlets will reach 3,200, becoming one of the most powerful companies in China's chain convenience industry.

"Lianhua Express" has been expanding the national market in the form of direct sales, joint ventures, franchises, etc. In 2002, Lianhua Dalian, Ningbo and Hangzhou companies were established successively, and regional companies were established in Beijing and Guangzhou, so that Lianhua Kuaike convenience stores not only achieved rapid development in the city, but also gradually entered the national market, with nearly 600 new stores opened during the year, and the scale of stores exceeded 1,000, with a total of 1,045 stores at the end of the year and annual sales of 1.2 billion yuan.

Lianhua Supermarket Co., Ltd. ("Lianhua Supermarket" or the "Company") started its business in Shanghai in 1991 and has developed into a retail supermarket chain company with the most complete business format in the country through direct operation, franchise operation and mergers and acquisitions in the past 21 years. As at 31 December 2011, the total number of stores of Lianhua Supermarket and its subsidiaries (the "Group") has reached 5,150 (excluding stores operated by the Company's associated companies) in 19 provinces and municipalities directly under the Central Government across the country, maintaining its leading position in the fast-moving consumer goods chain retail industry in the People's Republic of China (the "PRCG"). Lianhua Supermarket was listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the "Stock Exchange") on 27 June 2003 and is the first retail supermarket chain company in the PRC to be listed on the Stock Exchange.

The Group operates three major retail formats, namely large integrated supermarkets, supermarkets and convenience stores, catering to the different needs of consumers, and the three major retail formats have been continuously expanded through the brands of "Century Lianhua", "Lianhua Supermarket", "Hualian Supermarket" and "Kuike Convenience" respectively. In recent years, "Lianhua Supermarket", "Hualian Supermarket" and "Kuaike Convenience" have been awarded one of the "Outstanding Franchise Brands in China" by the Franchise Committee of the China Chain Store & Franchise Association.
