Founded in May 1954, Higher Education Press (hereinafter referred to as Higher Education Press) is one of the earliest professional education publishing institutions established in New China. Under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education, after 60 years of struggle, the Higher Education Society has developed into a comprehensive large-scale publishing house focusing on publishing educational, professional, scientific and technological publications such as higher education, vocational education, adult and social education. In 1983, Comrade Deng Xiaoping inscribed the name of the Higher Education Society. In December 2010, China Education Publishing & Media Group Co., Ltd. was established, and Higher Education Society became one of its core members.

Higher Education Society is in a leading position in China's publishing industry in terms of publishing scale, market share, product digitalization, internationalization and comprehensive strength. The product forms involve books, audio-visual products, electronic publications, network publications and periodicals, etc.; A variety of international products in 24 languages are sold in more than 60 countries and regions around the world; Over the years, it has published a large number of influential excellent books, audio-visual products, electronic publications and network publications, of which more than 1,681 kinds have won various national, provincial and ministerial awards, such as the "Five One Project" award, the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the China Publishing Government Award, the China Book Award, the China Excellent Publication Award, the National Excellent Textbook Award, and the National Teaching Achievement Award.
