The predecessor of the company is Chongqing International Trust and Investment Company, which was established with the approval of the People's Bank of China in October 1984 and is a wholly state-owned non-bank financial institution.
The company was on the verge of bankruptcy at one point. In 2002, the first reorganization and restructuring, was reborn, but due to too many historical problems, the company's development is still faltering, in the company's management team and all employees under the hard work, the company gradually got out of the predicament, at the end of 05 to pay off all historical debts. Since 06, the company has traveled lightly, actively developed the main business, the rapid development of trust business, and the profitability has been continuously improved, with operating profits of more than 500 million yuan for 4 consecutive years, and at the end of 2010, the third capital increase and share expansion was completed, and the capital strength jumped to the forefront of the national counterparts, laying a solid foundation for the company's leapfrog development.

On September 29, 2015, the name of the Company was changed to "Chongqing International Trust Co., Ltd.", and the registered capital of the Company was changed from RMB 2,438.73 million to RMB 12.8 billion, and the above matters were completed on September 29, 2015.
