The China-Japan Friendship Hospital (hereinafter referred to as "China-Japan Hospital") is a large-scale comprehensive tertiary hospital directly under the National Health and Family Planning Commission, which opened on October 23, 1984. At present, the China-Japan Hospital has 1,610 beds (including the North District and the West District), integrating many functions such as medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and preventive health care, and undertakes the tasks of central health care and medical care, the task of the National Health Emergency Rescue Team, and the China-Japan Friendship Clinical Medical Research Institute, and is also the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Smoking Cessation and Respiratory Disease Prevention, and the Telemedicine Management and Training Center of the National Health and Family Planning Commission.
China-Japan Hospital was one of the first batch of foreign free aid projects in China after the reform and opening up, and it was the most international modern hospital in China at that time. The Endocrinology, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology and Immunology, Geriatrics, Emergency Medicine, Thoracic Surgery, Pain Department, Traditional Chinese Medicine Rheumatology, Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Oncology, Traditional Chinese Medicine Pulmonology, Anorectal Medicine, Clinical Nursing and other departments and specialties of the hospital have been rated as national key clinical specialty construction projects.
At present, there are more than 500 personnel with associate senior technical titles or above, more than 1,000 personnel with master's degree or above, and more than 200 doctoral and master's supervisors.
