Founded in 1953, the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army of Chinese People's Liberation Army (301 Hospital) is a large-scale modern comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, health care, teaching and scientific research. The hospital is an important central health care base, which undertakes the medical care of officers and soldiers of the Central Military Commission and the General Headquarters, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of difficult diseases referred and evacuated by various military regions and services. At the same time, the hospital is also a medical school of the People's Liberation Army, focusing on postgraduate education, and is the only hospital in the whole army.
The hospital has more than 40,000 sets of advanced diagnosis and treatment equipment such as digital angiography machine, PET-MR, PET-CT, cyclotron, computed tomography system, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, robotic surgery system, magnetic navigation intervention system, intraoperative CT and intraoperative magnetic resonance. It has set up 165 clinical, medical and technical departments, 233 nursing units, 8 national key disciplines, 1 national key laboratory, 20 provincial and ministerial level and all-army key laboratories, 33 all-army medical specialty centers and research institutes, and formed 13 professional advantages characterized by comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. The hospital has 6 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, more than 100 technical experts above level 3, and more than 1,000 senior professional and technical personnel.
