Ocean Park Hong Kong is a large-scale ocean-based theme park in Hong Kong, located in Wong Chuk Hang in the Southern District of Hong Kong, and opened on January 10, 1977. In 2007, the park had 4.9 million visitors, ranking 16th in the world and 5th in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2009, the park jumped to 14th in the world, 5th in Asia, and 1st in China. Ocean Park Hong Kong is divided into three parts, namely the Hill Garden in the north, and the southern foot of Nam Long Shan and Tai Shue Wan in the south, covering a total area of 17 hectares with more than 40 amusement facilities. The Yamashita Garden is connected to Nanlang Mountain by a cable car and an ocean train. The area between Nanlang Mountain and Dashuwan is connected by a mountaineering elevator, which is the second longest outdoor escalator in the world.
Ocean Park Hong Kong is surrounded by the sea on three sides, with Deep Water Bay to the east, East Lam Strait to the south, and Tai Shue Wan to the west. Covering an area of 870,000 square meters, it is the largest marine park in Asia. The buildings in the park are distributed on Nanlang Mountain and Wong Chuk Hang Valley. There is an overhead cable car between the two parks, and visitors only need to take a 1.4-kilometer cable car to travel between the two parks, forming a complete park scenic area. In the cable car, you can enjoy the sea view of Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay. It includes eight districts, including Ocean World, Jigu Village, Green Garden, Bird Paradise, Mountain Mobile City, Rapids World, Water Park, and Children's Kingdom. The park is divided into two parts, the upper and lower mountains, and there is an aerial cable car to communicate. At the foot of the mountain is the water park, which is the first water amusement center in Asia; The hill is the main part of Ocean Park, with an aquarium, an ocean museum, an ocean theater, and a motoi gate.
The key symbol of Ocean Park is the aerial cable car (crane), which is 1.4 kilometers long. It connects the lowlands below the mountain with the highlands of Nanlang Mountain, and it can be walked at an altitude of 200 meters in 6 minutes. From above, visitors can overlook the Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay and the Lowland Park. There are 250 cranes, each with six seats, and can transport up to 5,000 visitors per hour.
The Oceanarium is one of the largest aquariums in the world. The water body is 22 meters wide, 38 meters long and 7 meters deep, and is divided into 4 levels, which can be visited by the audience. According to the layout of the coral reef, the museum is divided into two parts: the deep lake is designed according to the barrier reef, the lagoon is modeled with reference to the edge reef, and the sea water of the two lakes is connected. More than 5,000 fish from the Pacific Islands and the South China Sea are stocked in about 400 species, ranging from salt damselfish less than 2 centimeters in length to leopard sharks up to 3 meters in length, as well as coral reef fish such as moray eels, angelfish, and groupers. The museum also features an exhibit "Corals and Coral Reefs" that introduces information about the formation of coral reefs.
The Sea Wave Pavilion is a giant pool with a width of 152 meters, a length of 122 meters, and a depth of 2.7 meters, with a variety of artificial shores, suitable for different marine animals. The main exhibits include California sea lions, African fur seals, Stellar sea lions, gannets, jazz penguins and hamburger penguins. Man-made waves are operated by electric wave machines, and the waves rise and fall up to 1 metre. There is also an exhibition on the theme of coastal and marine animals, introducing the types and causes of the coast, the relationship between tides and waves and the coast, various coastal ecology and marine mammals, etc., and a series of light boxes and video game consoles to display relevant knowledge. Viewers can also control an underwater camera to see the ecology of the underwater animals.
The Ocean Theatre is located in the middle of the hill and has a capacity of 4,000 spectators. At the center of the theater is a huge pool with daily displays of killer whales, California sea lions and snouting dolphins.
Hyaktorii has a unique design, a giant stainless steel wire mesh supported by five giant columns, covering a space of 2,500 square meters. It is divided into 4 areas: ground-dwelling bird area, forest bird area, jungle bird area and waterfowl bird area, with a total of more than 3,000 birds.

Ocean Park was officially opened in January 1977 under the officiating ceremony of the Governor Sir MacLehose. The Park is funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and allocated free land by the Government at a cost of HK$150 million. Between 1982 and 1984, the Hong Kong Jockey Club allocated a further HK$240 million for the second phase of the Park's development, which was to diversify the facilities with the addition of Tai Shue Wan play equipment and mountain rides. The expansion project will make the park more popular, bring greater economic benefits, and make better use of land resources.
