Kelvion brand introduction

Kelvion logo

Originated in 1920, GEA was renamed as an early innovator and standard-setter in the field of thermal engineering, and a large multinational company dedicated to providing heat exchangers

Kelvion's heat exchanger business dates back to 1920, when GEA was founded by Otto Happel as a new company called Gesellschaftfür Entstaubungs-Anlagen. In the early decades, the company expanded its heat exchanger business exponentially, becoming an early innovator and a standard-setting technology in the field of thermal engineering. In 1999, GEA was acquired by mgtechnologies AG (the successor to Metallgesellschaft) and in 2005 it was renamed the GEA Group. In 2010, GEA merged all of its heat exchanger businesses into a single business unit ("HX"). In 2014, the GEA heat exchanger division was acquired by Triton.

With the new name, the former GEA Heat Exchangers division has officially spun off from the GEA Group and started writing its own history as Kelvion.

The name Kelvion is a tribute to Lord Kelvin (1824-1907). Lord Kelvin invented the laws of thermodynamics, and in his honor, the absolute unit of temperature was named the Kelvin scale.
