Gran Meliá Xi'an - Institutional Reviews

Opened in 2014, Gran Meliá is Meliá Hotels & Resorts' first top-brand hotel in China and the first five-star Spanish hotel in Xi'an. Gran Meliá promotes the concept of an "urban resort", combining a comfortable holiday with a view of the city. Therefore, the hotel is located in Furong Xintiandi, Qujiang New District, enjoying the double beauty of Qujiang Pond and Furong Lake, adjacent to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Shaanxi History Museum, surrounded by Tang Furong Garden and Qujiang Ruins Park, with convenient transportation and superior location. Gran Meliá is the first choice for many celebrities when they come to Xi'an to stay, Jack Ma, Jay Chou, Wilber Pan, Xiao Yaxuan, etc. have all stayed. The third season of "Brothers" was recorded in Xi'an and settled in the hotel. With the celebrity effect, the hotel has accumulated a certain amount of fame in a short period of time.

From the outside, the hotel building is square and looks serious and low-key. The lobby has a high ceiling, which makes people feel a wide field of vision, and the roof is hollowed out, allowing guests to witness the changes of light and shadow throughout the day through natural lighting, so it is also called the "light and shadow atrium", which is very romantic. The hotel has a total of 380 rooms, which can be divided into standard rooms and RedLevel rooms. The "Red Level" is the heart of the Gran Meliá brand, also known as the "boutique hotel of hotels". At Red Level, services are personalized to suit the needs of individual guests. The Red Level has its own gymnasium, spa, private lounge, butler service and complimentary breakfast, as well as an iMac for guests to use, and is only available to VIP guests. Red Level YHI Spa has a dedicated spa, and each treatment room has its own sauna and Jacuzzi, but it can also be conveniently served in the hotel room according to the needs of guests. Ancient Indian massage techniques are one of the signature features of YHI Spa at Red Level and are well worth a try.

The hotel has three restaurants, namely Cafe Mecaldo, Rong Ge Chinese Restaurant and DÚO Spanish Theme Restaurant. The most distinctive feature is the DÚO Spanish Restaurant, which is connected to the lobby, where the water features flow to the Spanish restaurant and finally flow down from the glass façade of the restaurant, which is a combination of beauty and deliciousness. DÚO is the only Spanish restaurant in Xi'an, with a chef who used to work in a three-Michelin star restaurant, with authentic tastes, many repeat customers, and has been in the top row of Xi'an's high-end restaurant recommendation lists such as Volkswagen, Ctrip, and TripAdvisor all year round. There is also a small bookstore in the hotel, where guests can read, borrow or buy, and sitting in the bookstore to read a book and listen to the sound of the piano coming from the lobby is also a great way to pass the time.
