"Hostels are the main body, but not limited to this", this sentence sums up the diversity of steam hostels. It is jointly operated by several friends of Li Zhexie, a well-known domestic indie rock band and sound toy guitarist, and is renovated from an old house in the 60s in the Sichuan Chemical Industry Design and Research Institute, integrating youth hostels and livehouse formats.
The Livehouse venue is the reception hall of the Steam Hostel. Bars, benches and stages are all incorporated into a square space of only a few tens of square meters. Painted with bare brick walls and warm diffused lights, a huge whale mural, a chandelier-adorned bar counter, and a mini-stage in the corner form the basic elements of the area, imbuing it with a restrained underground atmosphere.
The performances of the steam hostel are mainly electronic style, and the tonality is mostly avant-garde electronic fit close to youth culture. The well-known electronic musician Gao Jiafeng and the creator of the Duck and Goose Band Han Han have all performed here. Unfortunately, the frequency of performances in the steam hostel is not high, with an average of only one performance per month, and the number of performances in the whole year is basically no more than 15.
Compared to the Livehouse feature, the accommodation conditions and location of the hostel are more advantageous. Each of the 26 rooms has its own bathroom, washing machine and bicycle rental service. Billiards, foosball and bar are available in the evenings. It is only a 5-minute walk to the tourist area of Wuhou Temple. Even if you visit the steam hostel for the purpose of accommodation, you will not be disappointed.
The location of the hostel is relatively secluded. When customers arrive nearby, look for the Sichuan Chemical Industry Design and Research Institute area, and turn left to reach it. In addition, you can follow the WeChat public account "Steam Hotel" to learn about the latest performances and room information.
