Swire Hotels' The House Collective has a long-standing reputation in the industry, and the hallmark is that they are highly personalised – each hotel is designed by a different designer and has a different style. The Temple House is the third hotel in The House Collective, designed by Make Architects and named after the nearby Daci Temple. The hotel is located at No. 81 Biti-style Street, Jinjiang District, and integrates the style of the old house of Biti-style Street into the modern architecture, showing the traditional charm. Although the hotel is close to the bustling areas of Chunxi Road and IFS, the Temple House is a popular destination with travellers and has been named a 2018 Travelers' Choice Award winner by Tripadvisor.
The design of the hotel gate is very different from the usual grand type. The lobby is rebuilt from an old mansion, so the gate is simple and low-key. Without a staff to do a good job of reception, it may be difficult for guests to detect the presence of the gate. Entering the gate, you will find a pen-style courtyard with a history of more than 100 years, and its blue brick woodcarvings and overhanging cornices have been perfectly preserved and renovated. On the left and right sides of the courtyard are a library and a gallery, giving you a strong artistic atmosphere.
The Temple House has 100 rooms and 42 serviced apartments, which is not much in terms of the number of rooms alone, but it is better than the environment and the large area. Serviced apartments are for long-stay hotel guests and have a more home-like feel, and of course short-term stays are also available, but we recommend staying in the rooms for tourists. Each room is decorated in black and white, creating a subtle sense of high-end consumption against the backdrop of warm lighting. The hotel is equipped with a mini bar for the guest rooms, and free beer, juice, cola, tea, etc. Wine and champagne are available at an additional cost. If guests want to make their own tea and coffee, the hotel is also carefully equipped with illy capsule coffee machines and JING tea bags. Whether it is a guest room or a serviced apartment, it has very good sound insulation performance, which has been affirmed by many guests.
The hotel has a variety of dining options, such as The Temple Café, TIVANO Italian Restaurant, Well Bar and Mi Xun Tea Room. TIVANO Italian Restaurant and Mi Xun Tea Room were also selected as the best Western food recommendation list and the best tea room recommendation list in Chengdu in the trusted choice ranking respectively, which are definitely worth a try. In comparison, The Temple Café has performed much worse, with unsatisfactory dishes and service that does not match its 10% service charge.
When it comes to hotel entertainment, the Temple House has relatively few options. The hotel is equipped with a Mi Xun spa, an indoor swimming pool, and a fitness room, but the scale is not large, and the degree of specialization is low, but fortunately, the environment decoration is better and the experience is acceptable.
