Qingcheng City is one of the birthplaces of Taoism and has a prominent position in Taoism. It has a large number of visitors and a rich cultural relics and historic sites, as well as a back mountain with beautiful water and lush forests and dangerous roads, which has been a favorite attraction for tourists for many years, and has also been recommended in the list of the best must-visit attractions in Chengdu. Naturally, there is no shortage of high-end resort brands in this popular area, and Six Senses Qingcheng Mountain is one of the most famous hotels in the area.
Six Senses Qingcheng Mountain, the only hotel currently opened by Six Senses Wellness & Hotel Group in China, opened in 2015. Six Senses' upscale brand style can be attributed in large part to the founding of Soneva Fushi, a luxury resort in the Maldives in 1995 by founder Sonu Shivdasani. In order to distinguish their most "dear" Soneva hotel brand, Six Senses was born. In 2012, Six Senses was sold to Pegasus Capital, a U.S.-based private equity fund management firm, and since then Six Senses has expanded rapidly, and the first Six Senses in China was born.
Six Senses is characterised by its ability to combine its own 'slow living' philosophy with traditional local culture. In addition to the use of wood, stone, rattan and grass to build the resort, Six Senses Qingcheng Mountain also has a large number of bamboo-related designs, such as the bamboo floor, ceiling and chandelier in the reception hall, which are very impressive and reflect the characteristics of Sichuan bamboo products. Looking down from above, the layout of the hotel is in the style of gossip, which is in line with the Taoist culture of Qingcheng Mountain. The hotel even has some books on "Zen" in each room.
Spanning 246 acres, Six Senses Qingcheng Mountain features a total of 113 individual suites. Even the lowest-priced basic suites are semi-detached duplex villas with an area of 78 square meters, equipped with private balconies (or courtyard corridors) with views of the beautiful scenery of Qingcheng Mountain. Inside, the rooms are pleasing to the eye with a large number of solid wood furniture in a coordinated color scheme. Electric heating throughout the house, even in winter, residents can "get in touch" with the wooden floor. The bathroom is separated from the private backyard by a curtain, so guests can enjoy the beautiful view of their own backyard while soaking. However, the basic suites have poor sound insulation and have been criticized by residents. The hotel's most recommended are the two-bedroom courtyard pool villa and the presidential villa. There are two-bedroom luxury courtyard villas of the same level as the former, and there is not much difference between the basic hardware facilities of the two. The 309㎡ Two-Bedroom Courtyard Pool Villa is smaller than the 332㎡ Two-Bedroom Deluxe Courtyard Villa, but it is additionally equipped with a private outdoor pool with a heated Jacuzzi, which is more suitable for couples or families visiting in summer. In addition to two separate bedrooms with full amenities, the Two-Bedroom Courtyard Pool Villa also has a kitchen for residents to use their hands on and enjoy. Although the presidential villa is not as luxurious as the name suggests, although it covers an area of 845 square meters, it is divided into four independent suites with an area of about 80~110 square meters, which is more suitable for group customers. However, the presidential villa, located in the center of the hotel, has obvious geographical advantages, which is very convenient for both restaurants and entertainment areas. Its private pool is 80 square meters in size, which is several times larger than that of the two-bedroom courtyard pool villa. The Presidential Villa is equipped with a library, a restaurant (for 10 people), a wine cellar, and a treatment room. The hotel even has a butler room in the courtyard to provide 24-hour butler service for guests.
The hotel door card is made of the prototype of the square foot cloth coin of the Warring States period, and the feel of the wooden card is quite novel. The key card holder also contains a map of the hotel, which is very thoughtful for first-time visitors.
As a star-rated hotel, a variety of supporting facilities are not a problem, spas, swimming pools, restaurants, bars, tea rooms, etc. are very complete. For the convenience of guests, the hotel has set up a free electric trolley. Visitors only need to indicate their destination to the staff. When meeting guests, the staff will take the initiative to greet them; The two-beam electric trolley will automatically slow down when it is wrong; When guests are on foot, the staff dims the lights, and every detail indicates that the staff are well-trained and comfortable.
Six Senses Qingcheng Mountain Spa has won the 2017 Spa China Jury Award, the 2016 Spafinder Wellness Travel Award, etc., and enjoys a certain reputation in Chengdu. In addition to the common essential oils and bath salts, the spa also displays a variety of traditional Chinese medicinal materials, highlighting the strong cultural atmosphere of traditional Chinese medicine. Guests can experience three types of services: facial care, body care and massage, among which there are specific subdivisions of exotic customs and traditional Chinese medicine characteristics, such as Thai incense massage and Shenzhu massage, two different styles of treatment, and guests can enjoy the cultural differences.
Not far from the spa is the indoor swimming pool. Due to the low popularity of the pool, the water quality is very good. The pool is 100 meters long, 50 meters wide, and 1.4~1.5 meters deep, which is not suitable for children. Please note that the hotel does not provide or sell swimsuits and swimming caps, guests are required to bring their own.
The hotel has three restaurants, two bars, a traditional tea house and a dessert shop. Among them, the most famous 28 Suzhou Chinese restaurants mainly promote Sichuan, Cantonese, Suzhou, and Shandong cuisines, but only Sichuan cuisine has an authentic taste, and other cuisines are not good. Salathai Restaurant is the hotel's top recommendation, but don't expect too much. The freshness of the ingredients varies, the stability of the production is difficult to guarantee, and the taste of the dishes is average, which makes it difficult to impress diners. Other restaurants, bars, etc. have also not performed well, and will not be stated here. It should be affirmed that the hotel's dining environment and service are of a high standard, such as the starry sky dining experience on the roof of Salatai Restaurant is very good, but tourists remember to be prepared to prevent mosquitoes.
Guests can also experience a "farmhouse" at the hotel, where they can pick a variety of vegetables and fruits in their own organic vegetable garden. This is where most of the vegetables in the hotel's restaurant come from. The aforementioned villa kitchen cooks the vegetables, and guests can also choose to pick vegetables here.
The hotel is located in the scenic area, in addition to its own excellent environment, not far from the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center Dujiangyan Base, Dujiangyan irrigation system and other scenic spots, as a place to rest is quite a good choice.
