Built in 1935, the Hongzhushan Hotel of Mount Emei was built by the Nationalist Government for Chiang Kai-shek's special "palace", which was a villa-style wooden building, which was quite luxurious at that time. In 1958, the "Xinggong" was transformed into a guest house and listed as the "Hongzhushan Guest House". In 1979, the guest house was renamed "Hongzhushan Hotel". Since then, Hongzhushan Hotel has undergone continuous upgrading from two-star to five-star hotel evaluation, and in 2004, Hongzhushan Hotel was rated as a five-star foreign-related hotel, which is a veteran five-star hotel in Sichuan Province. With a history of nearly 100 years, the Hongzhushan Hotel in Mount Emei has also received national leaders such as Zhu De, Deng Xiaoping, Zhu Rongji, and Li Ruihuan.
The Hongzhushan Hot Spring in the Hongzhushan Hotel in Emeishan is famous far and wide. Hongzhushan Hot Spring comes from the confined radon hot spring 3,000 meters underground in the two estuaries of Qingyin Pavilion, containing 266.77BP of radon per cubic meter, and the temperature of the outlet reaches 68 °C. Radon hot springs are colorless and odorless, and you can relax your whole body after bathing. The hot spring area is a combination of natural giant trees and shrubs, and the air is fresh and the scenery is excellent. There are a total of 28 small hot spring pools, including Jintan Pond and Yintan Pond, which are cleverly separated by topography and native vegetation, which has good privacy and integrates with the surrounding natural environment without any sense of abruptness. Officially, daily disinfection is claimed, but there are still hygiene problems. During the bathing period, you will also encounter some low-quality behaviors such as rubbing in the hot spring pool.
Surrounded by lush native greenery, the Hongzhushan Hotel has an excellent natural landscape. In 2004, Jin Yong, a famous martial arts novelist who stayed in the Hongzhushan Hotel, also wrote an inscription for the hotel: "China's treasure Emei Mountain, Emei's treasure Hongzhu Mountain, the scenery of Hongzhushan Hotel must be the crown of the world." Today's Hongzhushan Hotel retains the No. 4 building of the villa where Chiang Kai-shek lived, and has built a number of buildings for tourists to stay. In May 2014, Hongzhushan Hotel newly built Building No. 7, named "Zen Mountain Residence", the new building is designed by AECOM in the United States, Hong Kong Zhengzhong Design Office (CCD) provides interior design, the building is facing one of the ten views of Emei "Luofeng Qingyun", the interior decoration integrates tea, Zen, bamboo and other elements, quite a tea Zen artistic conception. All rooms in Building 7 have independent hot spring pools, and the room rate starts from 1,800 yuan per night. Buildings 5 and 8 are slightly lower, starting at RMB580 per night. However, due to the disrepair of these two buildings, some of the decoration and supporting facilities are slightly old, and there is a musty smell in the room, which affects the comfort of staying.
In addition to the hot springs, the hotel also includes a promenade through the Hongzhu Mountain forest with high oxygen content, a treetop bar with a height similar to the surrounding trees, and a Zen red bar and cigar bar. Autumn and winter holidays are the peak season for hot springs, and hotels and hot springs are overcrowded, so it is recommended that guests book rooms in advance and stagger the peak hours of hot springs.
